How are you finding the stack with the new stem?
I couldn't get on with the stock set up, albeit on a relatively short test ride.
Still fancy getting one though !

What size stem are you running?
-

Man this makes me want to start a fourth project, but alas no space, time or money!
Looking good and will keep following this.

The stem currently on is 70mm 2deg, no spacers. Hope to get the Thomson stem tomorrow before the post office closes for easter. Ordered 80mm 10deg. So far it feels good, but we'll see once I get some proper hours in.

Fitted fenders and rear rack today.
Also, after a little time on it, I've figured I don't like the saddle. Anybody have suggestions for a replacement (not Brooks)? I'm looking for a saddle that works with and without bibs. My other preferred saddles are Arione for the road bike and Turbo on the commuter.

What saddle's on there at the moment?
Edit - UTFS'd. What about one of the Fabric Scoops? Flexi-base might work well without bibs, like a cambium.

ditto the Fabric, might have to get one myself.
my ass hated the cambium even with bibs, a new b17 feels infinitely better!

Nice work. Looking good, like the rack and guards. Fabric look good, and not mega expensive. Had a Spesh Toupe before, now on a sdg bel air, am considering a romin or smp hell, both about £80.

I find my romin ok without bibs

+1 on the fabric saddle.. finally found a saddle that works after alot of looking.

smp?
how are the paselas for you? i've thought about them for a similar bike but wish they`d come as a 42 or something bigger , 38 seems a bit like a waste of space..

Wow, never even seen the Fabric saddles in Norway. I'll keep your tips in mind, thanks.
Paselas feels good so far, will see how they hold up before i recommend them.

If you fancy giving a SMP a try, have a look at these. Nice and not too pricey

Fabric saddles is Charge's new saddle brand, they look good though.
love pasela's nice and soft. got 28c on my tourer and they feel really comfy

is there some feedback/experiences on that Carmel? looks pretty flat
-
• #42
Most SMPs have the same flat section, just that they are usually photographed nose up (I think). I like it more than a romin evo, good enough to not need bibs on, probably the most comfortable saddle I've used (comparing to Toupe/Romin Evo and a Arione)

I'd recommend the SMP Extra for the money, it's the real deal and make for a great beater if you do get on with it and go for the more expensive one.

Finally got the Thomson bits after they went awol on the way here from the UK. Hopefully I'll be able to go on the first real trip the coming weekend.
Pardon the crappy picture.
