The buses are a problem, but they are being cleaned up - the new Borismasters are really clean hybrids which make a huge amount of difference, and several older designs are clean now.
Taxis continue to be a massive polluter, and for no real reason. TFL could ban diesel taxis at a stroke if they wanted to, but the LTDA always fight them - dunno why, as LTI and Mercedes have been offering petrol and LPG engines for years. Personally since they switched from actual taxis to Mercedes vans I think the london cabbie has become an anachronism and their special privileges should be revoked. Cyclists outnumber them, so fuck off cabbies. -

Preparing for a jaunt round ireland this weekend. Now my Bandit seems to have trouble idling without cutting out. I have new plugs to fit, I guess I need to look for vacuum leaks to the carbs as well.
Fingers crossed for nice weather. -

I picked up a Honda express 50cc moped a while ago for £30.
I've been working on making it into a chopper, thought you nerds would be interested:
Not finished yet, got some bits to do, but hopefully going to get it roadworthy, so if anyone knows of any sympathetic MOTers, let me know! -

Those fork welds scare me
Mint project though
-
• #5881
They're solid!
There's also a smaller tube welded inside which works as a stopper for the compression springs in the forks.

Sounds like you know what you're doing, I hope a flamed petrol tank is on the cards.

Just back from a few days biking round the west of Ireland - some beautiful roads and country over their. Petrol is super cheap too.
Came back via the A5 through snowdonia too - breathtaking. -

Almost got wiped out entering roundabout outside work last night, woman in Focus (ironic) just went flying over without slowing, forcing me to take evasive action (I was on it a fair way round) nearly turned the m\bike onto the island itself, she was doing at least 50 over it, didn't slow down at all. Caught her up and I'm afraid to say retribution was swift and very vocal. Called her a 'fucking evil witch'. The fucking evil witch....

Been working up in old streeet so commuting by bike this week. Takes about 30 mins from dulwich. Thought i'd take the motorbike today as I've been missing the chance to ride it much. Took ages to get ready, took about 50 mins to get here, was lucky to find a parking space, bike was running well hot and stalling by the time i got here, nearly got t boned. Not the sunlight cali cruise i was imagining.
Either need to trade the KTM in for a vespa or accept that motorbikes through london just aren't as sensible as push bikes, which unfortunately means I don't really have any use for it. Wont be selling it though, I'll l just need to try and invent some other justification. Maybe i can fit that kiddie seat on the back?

Motorbikes are fucking useless compared with bicycles really. I haven't ridden the Triumph that's in my garage in about 2 years, and the Vespa has probably had two or three outings in the last year.
Going out of London is no better, because most of the time you'd rather be in a car. -

What Triumph do you have?

a Thruxton 900

Is it any good?

main reason I sold mine, apart from going travelling and needing the money to pay for the flight. Had to replace the battery two or three times as it just went flat without being ridden.
Do miss it, keep looking at modified cafe racers thinking I could have one for blatting around on in the summer, but where to store it during the winter? -

Doing it wrong. Unless it's a London thang.
Most of the time I'm in a car going a decent distance I see bikes and wish I was on mine.

If the last forum motorbike trip across France had been a car trip I might still like riding motorbikes. Due to a combination of rain, cold, unreliability, stereotypical French mechanics, and the fact that misery, worry and abject terror pretty much replaced any sense of enjoyment it pretty much ended up being the last time I rode a motorcycle.
