  • Yeay more bricks!

850R? But manual makes me think T5 unless you have a very rare R manual?

I've been into them for donkies, started as just cheap way to get turbo RWD (740 2.3 B230FT conversion + welded diff + drain pipe exhaust + injectors + booooooost = rolly poly fun). Last few years had a V70 2.5 tdi (audi 5 pot lump) and been working on that as a daily driver thats comfy, quick enough (185bhp/275lb.ft?) but still return no less than 48mpg, long motorways and trips on the continent = mid 50's. Can also swallow 5 bikes in the boot and 5 folk + kit in the car.
Biggest issue is where I live (glasgow) we have a former warzone instead of tarmac, so goes through tyres, suspension (bilsteins lasted about 4 months before being blown) and rims :(

  • Matt from Talbot has one too.

  • ain't that the 4200?

either way, i'd still rather have the tiv or the db7

  • Griffith has got the nicest butt too. B-)

  • I concede - it was.

  • Mine is a factory manual (M59) with the limited slip diff - it's why I flew to Aberdeen to buy the car, as they are thin on the ground. I've not seen another (manual) for sale for a while now.

  • A rare beasty indeed, you see loads of manual conversions but not many 850's still kicking.

Like the fact its red, if I had one it would have to be red or that dark metallic green colour. Mine is just regular #426 silver, i.e. the colour of every other volvo, easy to blend in when driving into live blast furnaces and power stations*

    *not supposed to be there.

  • If I had one it would have to be that electrolyte-urine yellow colour.

Admittedly, I spent my formative years in Essex and still regard the RS500 as a work of genius.

  • If I had one it would have to be that electrolyte-urine yellow colour

    So, so true.

Some cars are defined by their colour.

The 850R is yellow with grey wheels.

The RS Mondeo is Citrine Yellow.

    Etc.

  • Cars defined by their colour.

Ferrari is ALWAYS mistakenly defined by the Rosso Corsa colour. Every time I see a red Ferrari, I automatically assume that the owner isn't a collector.

FTR, 'Rarri's were always yellow. See a yellow 'Rarri and see an enthusiast.

Subaru WRX cars are ALWAYS that blue colour.

    Come on, any more?

  • The only non-cunt colour for a Range Rover is metallic green.

  • That just screams "Hunter wellies cunt" to me.

  • The 850R never came in "that yellow", you are thinking of the T-5R.

Initially I wanted the T-5R, but they are have less power* than the 850R and lack the LSD.

Also the presence of "that yellow" adds ~£2,000 to the asking price.

    *Smaller turbo

  • Two large? Seriously?!

  • It's about geography: Inside the Home Counties = cunt, outside the Home Counties = country type who has always had green Range Rovers and is unaware of them being a fashion statement.

  • 850R never came in "that yellow", you are thinking of the T-5R

    Thing learned.

  • Ford Pumas should always be that metallic blue.

E36 M3s Estoril Blue (weirdly the E46 looks dreadful in the colour).

If I ever had an Aston Martin it would have to be grey.

Lotus / Caterham 7s should be set on fire unless they are green with a yellow nose band.

    Taxis are black.

  • Ford Pumas should be set on fire.

  • Good stuff.

  • This for me.

  • This is the only colour for an Aston imo.

  • No way man. The Racing Puma is all kinds of fat bottomed fun.

  • Grey...

  • yup some cars just suit certain colours.
Gul yellow works On both saloon and estate, but they are all faded now, only resprays look ant good.
C70 look best in that saffron yellow, as do v70r, but totallu wouldn't work on a 850

  • Love that car and colour combo. Old man had a 309 GTI in red and remember it vividly. Handbrake turns in the gravel car park with my brother and I in the back had us giggling like mad.
