  • I may be able to do weds. Same meetup as today?

  • Sounds like it went well; I'll make one soon, probably not sensible for me to ride just yet

  • Yeah I'm happy with that little bench as a meeting place if the rest are @jakjakjak @BareNecessities?

  • Works for me. Maybe try a reverse loop or two as well, depending on time.

  • Reverse hey?? Impressive but you'll need to go fixed otherwise you'll go nowhere.
    #fixiehumour

  • Maybe like this....

  • Any time from about 4pm is good for me.

Don't really want to be riding home in the dark though :-/

  • I finish work at 17.00, so earliest I could really manage would be meeting at 17.45?

Reverse sounds fun; I've mapped out a longer (8.5 mile) harsher figure-of-8 taking in that really steep crest for those masochists among us too, which I might have a go at soon. Will recce it solo first before I suggest a group effort though, just in case it's bitterly horrible!

  • The rudimentary elevation chart on MapMyRide suggests the little hill on the current route is at 7% for 200m anti-clockwise, and would average 4% for about a km clockwise (incidentally only maxing out at 5%, despite looking steeper).

The turn off onto that crest maxes out at 20%, and the whole climb is ~500m. 1eme Categorie by Norfolk standards.

  • So, 6pm start, three laps and then home?

  • The turn off onto that crest maxes out at 20%

Might have to work my way up to that one O.o

  • Out of interest, how does that compare to Gas Hill?

  • I think Gas Hill is 1 in 4 so slightly less steep (still a grind though).
We could make a larger loop incorporating a trip up Taverham Road from the small roundabout near the church, then looping out on to the Fakenham Road and then cutting back in through the Taverham estate back to the small roundabout. Would be on slightly bigger roads though.

  • Yeah, as Jules says, Gas Hill averages at 19%, peaks at 21% for a couple of metres according to MMR. Only 250m long though, so just under half the length of the Ringland one!

  • I wonder how many different strava segments there are on that incline :-)

  • i scanned over all that and realised far too slowly we weren't talkng about 500m of vert.

  • I reckon you'd be able to spot that from a distance around here :-D

  • Been battling flu all week, thought it would be a good idea to go for a quick spin today, wasnt fun and my throat is worse, so i'm out. Unless i make a miraculous recovered by tomorrow

  • Is this Wednesday as in tomorrow? If so I should be able to make an appearance..

Did venture out to this area last week and found it quite the workout

  • Yup, tomorrow it is. I've got to cover some work for an absent colleague tomorrow afternoon that might mean I'm out too though, all depends on how quickly I can get things to press!

  • Fill, send, approve, run.
    #protip

  • Fill, send, approve, ride.

    ftfy

  • So, who's up for this evening? Be great to know by about midday, so if nobody else can make it, I'll go out a little earlier :-)

  • I think it may have spraines my anklw while running last night. I'll see if it loisens up by lunch.
