  • Car dropped off for MOT and aircon re-gass.

I don't suppose there is anyone in the Forest Hill/Deptford/Brockley area who could collect it if I cannot get back here by 7 tonight? I will sort the cash side of things out, but may not be able to sort the time side of things so easily.

  • Car has passed it's MOT with no advisories, just needs collecting now.

  • WOOP WOOP!

If I wasn't still in bed recovering, I'd have been straight over to pick it up for you!

  • Is the MOT place far from your flat? I'm working from home today so could pop over if nothing else works...

  • It's in Deptford - they allow you to book your MOT online and then drop it off at 06.30, which is very useful; http://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/

2 minutes walk from Deptford Bridge railway station, also.

  • Hmmm. I could pick it up at some point this afternoon and park it at mine (Hither Green). I'm right next to the station so you could pick it up after work.

  • That would be extremely useful - I think that the earliest I could leave here (W1) would be 17.30, so the chances of getting to Deptford before 7pm are low at best.

If you could fit this in let me know and I'll ring the test centre and let them know.

  • Okay. I can definitely do it... should be free around 4pm. Will try sooner if possible to avoid traffic.

  • Winner - I'm in a meeting right now, will call/pay ASAP.

  • Do twin exhausts make a car sound burble-y? Mines got a relatively small engine but still sounds quite cool

  • only if you are running one per bank.

  • Cool. Fingers crossed I can remember how to drive a manual...

  • They won't let me pay over the phone, annoyingly - can I PayPal you the cash?

    It's £95 for MOT+re-gas.

  • Sure. I'll drop you a pm.

  • Splendid, remember- it's a bit old school, this is a 20 year old car. Whilst there is traction control it's designed to help you out of a muddy field, not pull things back in the middle of a corner when it tightens unexpectedly.

At WOT you'll have full boost by 3,000 rpm, it'll hold until just over 6,000 and then start tailing off.

Brake pads are new, as are the front tyres, don't prang it.

  • @Soul - Get the donut videos on Youtube pronto.

  • :)

Not sure there's any open space big enough in London to get that thing round in a circle...

  • I think Richie has a route out past Brands Hatch that he uses for "testing".

  • There must be a big Sainos car park nearby, Shirley?

  • Not sure there's any open space big enough in London to get that thing round in a circle...

there's the M25, it might just about turn in that..

  • ^ not convinced.

Anyway, i'm heading out to collect it now. Let's see how many bus lane restrictions I can drive it though on the way back...

  • Just steer dead ahead, then mash the throttle.

  • And then wait for the torque steer to direct you unerringly into the nearest hedge...

  • That's how I drive anyway...

  • Curb action 6:40
