Vinegar and brown paper works for head injuries so give that a go or Gaffer Tape.

I went for the bowl of warm water, iodine and a large non-stick plaster. Followed by Codeine-to-the-eyeballs. Its taken a pretty major chunk out of the nail bed. The rest doesn't really hurt that much in comparison.

Oh I'd forgotten this thread existed. I had a splinter in my finger, dug it out, wound healed over but a bit later a lump formed under the skin. It's annoying as it's on the finger pad so I can feel it when I grip stuff. I guess it may be scar tissue but has anyone had something similar? I haven't got that thing where scars grow really big.

Playing on a colleagues trials bike and flipped off the back when I failed to lock the rear brake doing a lunge.
Landed pretty squarely on arse and back on hard concrete floor.
Was a bit winded at the time but now (½ hour later) getting really quite intense stabs of pain just to the left of my spine between my shoulders if I try to drink with left hand, tilt head back when sat/stood up straight (ok if hunched) or randomly as I move and twist. Can move arms through full range of movement without issue.
Codeine and beer when I get home or a&e at earliest convenience?

What about here?

See your GP first. They will be able to make a better recommendation for how to follow it up than we can. A&E is for emergencies and you don't make it sound like one. Self-medication is not recommended.

He said nothing about the injury being to his collar.

GP is booked out till next Tuesday. Gah!
Self medication will have to do just now.

Go to A&E. If you had an accident and feel you need medical ALWAYS go to A&E.

What's the forum way of dealing with patella tendonitis then?
I came off in mud, and found the only firm bit with my knee. This was about 3 weeks ago, and it's not really going away. I've taped it today with kinesiology tape and that's definitely relieved the nagging pain. I read that this helps it to heal, but is there any real life experience of what helps? -

Cheers all, decided that not being able to lie down without feeling sick from the pain wasn't good so got my mum to run me to minor injuries where they diagnosed muscular damage and gave me a big pile of drugs to take away with me.

Check in with the knee pain thread

Cheers fella....didn't see that one.
I've just had a 20 minute spin with the tape on, with no pain or apparent ill effects.....it might do the job enough for it to heal.I'll trawl through the other one when I'm icing later

What's the best bowel-calming product which can be purchased sans prescription, from say Boots?

Yes, I don't want to be the reason that we have to abort the flight and land in Iceland.

Seeing a chiropractor for a few weeks now after various back niggles for a few months. After the first visit I thought all had been fixed but ever since then I'm waking up in considerable pain at about 6am every morning. Take a couple of nurofen and I can get back to sleep for another hour or so. Am generally a bit stiff at other times of day but if I'm active it's fine. Occasionally the pain spreads more into chest and feels a bit numb like nerve compression. Tends to be worse on the left side.
I'm also fine sat at a desk and lying in other positions on couches etc. It's only when I've been asleep for some hours. If I had to get up early it would be great as I can normally sleep through anything but this is a pain the arse (or back to be precise). Have another visit with chiro on Thursday (a different one as first is on holiday). Have also booked in an appointment with GP (2 weeks wait, thanks Jeremy).
I moved house and lots of lugging boxes and straining to reach places to sand/paint etc but this was a month or two ago now and worse back pain didn't start until after visiting chiro.
I have a new bed (but had it for a month or two before first seeing chiro and didn't have the waking up in the night thing prior to first chiro visit) but same (latex) mattress as before.
New house means work surfaces in kitchen where I spend a lot of time are lower so I'm hunching in the evenings.
Amputate?
Yeah, that was me. But I couldn't get one at my local store!
Doc says it's almost certainly a gout attack (which is still going on - oh joy). So I will be off for a blood test when they call back with a suitable time. Then I get the lowdown on treatment and the nice things I can no longer eat...
Thanks both for giving me a much-needed kick up the arse!!
