  • Yes, 215 section tyres, FWD - not helpful when it comes to 0-60. I don't know what it would do these days, I think the time was around 7 seconds when the car was new/original.

I would either have a 242 (2 door saloon body) or a 245 (estate), the four door doesn't really do it for me.

Flat hood, single round headlights, my ideal 240 is probably a 242 from '76.

I'd want to go the "whiteblock" all-alumium inline six, GT-3076R route, with E36 suspension in the rear.

  • The other day i met a solicitor who owns 7 1970s & 80s Volvos. You two should hang out.

  • North London resident?

  • Yes, especially one with a green and metallic silver interior.

  • Rubbish pictures

  • tidy!

  • That looks awesome! Nice one. Better get some suncream for that bare bonce ;-)

Looking very Matt Farah from TST there too.

  • How come the Boxster doesn't have pop up headlamp washers, the 996 of the same era does. I guess that's one way to save money.

  • You only get those washers with the litronic headlamps. ive never seen a boxster with normal headlamps that had a washer of any kind.

  • Good effort Sir. Quietly envious...

  • Now I'm confused, yours look like projector units which I thought were Porsche's Litronic? Or is there 3 types, halogen, xenon, and then Porsche's Litronic?

And if yours is halogen what are those in front of the headlamps?

  • And if yours is halogen what are those in front of the headlamps?

    magnets, duuuuuuhhhhh

    ;p

  • Mine are Litronics, yes. when I referred to 'those washers' I meant the ones on my car.

  • What do I have to take in terms of paperwork in order to get an MOT - or do I just present the car?

  • How come the Boxster doesn't have pop up headlamp washers, the 996 of the same era does. I guess that's one way to save money.

The little round chrome popups came with the facelifted headlights on the 3.6 996. The Boxster never got the facelift.

  • And Litronics is what Porsche called their Xenons, so only two types.

  • The old MoT helps them find it on the system. Otherwise nothing.

  • They did the last MOT, so hopefully they can find it ok.

Old 62mm on the right, new 90mm on the left:

  • Ah ok, makes sense now.

The Litronics on my dad's 996 are hands down the best headlights I've ever driven with. The HIDs on my old E34 come a close 2nd .

  • Interesting, why didn't the Boxster get a facelift? Not that I expect you to answer ever Porsche related question, it just seems like you might know.

  • Last question - my Odometer has just stopped working, which probably means that an £0.05 plastic cog has lost it's teeth. Is that an MOT required function?

  • Nope. Neither is a working speedo.

  • winner!

  • Porsche got shit for the Boxster and 911 looking too alike from the front, so they only changed the 911. It wasn't a cost thing as you can unbolt the facelifted 911 headlights and bumper and bolt them on to a Boxster.

Fun Porsche facts are my party piece. I never get invited to parties.
