  • yeah i can't tell if it it needs the top cap to work, or if you can use a bolt without(?!).

the deda has a 1mm+ stack.

  • I had one I gave away (I think) but pretty sure you had to use it together... May be wrong though.

*actually yes, it is not a bolt, the cap is threaded and needs to be used, no option to use a bolt and cap.

  • Anyone know of an alternative BB option for Rotors? The standard one that comes with them aren't that good.

  • Which Rotors?

  • @JesperXT 3D track cranks? Newer ones with hardy any graphics, sorry don't know if there's a specific name for the variant.

  • It looks like they have a 24 mm spindle, so I'd assume any Shimano Hollowtech II BB should work...

  • i've got a road bike to sell, but the rear rim is right on the limit of being completely worn out, other than that it's in good nick - Should I sell it with a caveat of the rear wheel would need replacing immediately, or suck it up and get a new wheel for it and then sell it as a properly functioning bike?

  • Sell it with the caveat.

  • Worn wheels = priced accordingly.

  • As far as I am aware you have to use the Rotor Track BB - the shells are an unusual width.

I imagine the bearings themselves are off the shelf industrial units, my impression of the shells was that they were quite well made - what don't you like?

  • whats the current PM2.5 AQI in London? My AQI app won't show it for some reason, intrigued for a comparison..

  • Can anyone do better than me at finding a black replacement spoke for a Shimano WH-RS30 rear wheel? It's NDS but apparently that doesn't matter.

So far I have £3 +£8 delivery from Rose Bikes, or £9 shipped off EBay.

There must be a better option?

I bought a Sapim CX-Ray spoke as that was easier to find quickly, and cheaper.

Is this going to work alright, or do RS30s have some kind of stupid Shimano proprietary spoke system which means I need an actual Shimano replacement?

  • do RS30s have some kind of stupid Shimano proprietary spoke system which means I need an actual Shimano replacement?

Pretty much. The spoke heads look a fairly ordinary size, so a straight pull DT (Sapim) spoke might work. The spoke cross section at 3.0×0.9 is somewhere between a New Aero (CX) and and Aerolite (CX-Ray), a DT AeroComp is probably the closest match for stiffness.

  • Norway in late May - 1 week - what to do and is it a good idea? Temperature too unpredictable? Sadly won't be anytime for cycling but maybe some hikes or boat trips?

  • Preikestolen?

  • It just hasn't lasted as long as I would have hoped, don't get me wrong though, I've kept it well maintained, wiped around the shells when I rode in the rain and so on.
But a couple of friends who've had them, have had the same problem with them.
I think going off what you said it is probably that they aren't supplied with the best bearings or something

  • It's probably also because they're designed for racing in velodromes, so don't need to be completely weather/road grime proof.

It's the price of slavery ;)

  • @roboto Ah yeah didn't think about that, good point, they probably weren't made with us in mind

Unfortunately the price we pay :p

  • Ha! Well my rotor bb is just as good as the day I bought it, but it is on my track bike, not my tarck biek!

As Dammit says, you should be able to remove the bearings from the cup and find a number on them that will correlate with what size you need to order for a replacement bearing.

  • Ah well there you go then, -Track cranks not meant for road use- noted lol

Yeah I could do that, would be easy, but if the shells don't give them good protection I'll probably be in the same position in a month or two, as a result of rain, if we have a traditional English summer that is (rainn)

I work at Evans so I'll just order a few in and try them out, see if anything fits, there was a road Hope one that should work with a converter
May just get new bearings for the time being though, temp fix

  • We find carpet beetles in our flat on average one a day.

Everything we read oine says we need to find the nest but we can find no trace of a nest or where they are coming from.

Only find them in our living room and kitchen which are open plan, not found any beyond the door into these rooms. Mostly find them around the windows.

Anyone got any ideas what we can do to get rid of them? If they'll be doing any harm? Where is likely for the nest?

  • Under your bed.

  • 105 front mech...
braze on adapter and braze on mech
    OR
    clamp on mech
    ?

  • braze-on+adaptor, always. More flexible

  • 5800? Do they even come in dedicated clamp on units now? I thought that the "clamp-on" version in the new shimano gen stuff is all braze-on+adapter...
