yes, it's that one, glad you like the paint, not sure now what i'll do with it, last time i rode fixed in london was 7 years ago
thanks to advice from the legendary @edscoble et al, and that pic of one built especially, i think it;s safe to say it needs an expanding bolt clamp, will measure seat tube as i would rather go with the fluidity ( in my eyes) of having a post that is similar to the tube, planet x do some, and there is a bontrager one on the bay that if still listed if frame arrives i may inquire about, i'd make it all black, go for black rims, stem/bars and poss drive -

Why would I know? I'm hardly likely to let a Trek besmirch my fleet.

Panasonic is just great, I would leave those bars on it, looks like a blast to ride!

Picked up something shiny yesterday -
Will take nicer pictures when it's in a better state - wheels, pedals, bar and brake levers all need a change. Also the seatpost is a bit stuck despite being a shade too small in diameter, hopefully it can be soaked out, if not it's actually at a good height anyway but I'd certainly prefer getting one in there that's actually the correct size.

If this one works out it ticks a few boxes I want ticking, classic french frame, excellent condition, much chrome, and also i've wanted a Vitus 979 for ages now - not that this is one - but I only wanted one for the look, nice blue main tubes and silver everywhere else. This comes pretty close.

Nitto road drops are average drop but 25.4 perhaps worth a try if you want more drop?
I've compacts myself on Mr Eddy balk but he's for the road, so for look around reasons really...

what are the calipers? looking for a nutted front double pivot caliper for claud because the single pivot just doesnt cut it.. something tektro isnt it?
-
• #100866
Front is a tektro r539, rear is a dia compe off eBay as the tektro wasn't long enough drop and the dia compe was cheaper than an individual tektro, Quality of the dia compe feels a lot cheaper than the tektro, and wiggle have the r559 extra long drop on sale at the min if you need XL drop.

coolio. will have a look on this slow friday office morning
-
• #100868
ahh theyre not nutted though.
but nevermind, found this:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Tektro-Bremsbolzenkit-Umbau-Kit-von-Standard-Hulse-auf-langes-Mas-/251630330680?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_77&hash=item3a96562338
which is the cheapest solution anyway since i do have a idle caliper laying around i think. -
• #100869
Understand you only need front but
-
• #100870

VeloSolo has Nutted tektro's in standard and deep drop. Also some nutted extra long drop Alhongas for £19 pair.

• #100873
The alhonga A
