What time is it? Watches and horology

i do have the wrists of a kangaroo

This is my 1968 GMT master given to me by my dad. Im wearing it with the original, stertched bracelet. Any ideas on nice alternatives?

It was seeing that a few pages back prompted me to ask. Where can you get a quality one from? I'm not sure how convinced I am.

I wouldn't really say there are many "quality" ones about as they're pretty cheap to manufacture.

Anyone know of a shop (in London) who'd open up an automatic / diagnose a "it's not winding" issue for cheap / free? It's not an expensive watch so don't want to throw more money at it unnecessarily, but would be nice to fix it if possible

Funnily enough I would never have considered buying a rolex before I was given this but I love it. My great uncle got it in Singapore when he was in the RAF, gave it to my dad a couple of years after who wore it for 30 years and then let it fall into disrepair. He wasn't going to get it repaired so handed it to me. I got it fixed up which brought a tear to his eye.

A new Rolex bracelet is a bit pricey at £1200 ish. I might go after market for the links and put the original clasp back on it.

I have a cheap aftermarket bracelet that I don't trust and a shark mesh that I do trust but don't like.

Shark mesh only looks good on a Junghans.

Worked that one out after wearing it for a month.

i have managed to get a new job before i spent all my redundancy money, so am going to treat myself to a new watch or 2.
going to get a Casio G Shock GW4000 and something dressier.

I quite like the Tag Heuer Carrera in its 1887 calibre flavour

but its well out of my budget. Ideally i want to spend about £1000-1200 on something like that.
Any suggestions? (other than save more money)
