I was wondering this lately. What are the bicycle theft statistics and how do they compare to other cities/countries?
Anybody you ask will tell you bicycle theft is a big problem in their city. Anywhere.

we are the prestigious bike theft capital of the UK (per head)
We have the most bikes per head too, so not surprising. The better stat would be bikes stolen per bike.

Yeah I was wondering that but CBA to try and calculate it or find it.

Amusingly, for such a smart arse sign, the Latin translation is wrong.

Obvs I'm joking. I don't have the slightest fucking clue whether it's right or wrong.

Oh. I didn't realise.
I was joking about the ancient Greek myself. NGL I really did think you knew Latin.

Best small sign I saw in Cambridge was on the rail of the bridge over the river, just near the Galleria restaurant.
Saying 'I got the shits at Galleria'.

OK another outer-London post, but a nonetheless useful guide to cycologists in Santiago, Chile ...

It mentions to not lean the bicycle driveside towards the post. Is this just to avoid side pressure on the chain tension? Leaving oil in the communal parking post? Or is there a bigger reason for it?

not scratching up your chainset/bashing the FD?

Hmm not sure why, I guess to avoid crushing derailleur - this is their detailed howto http://www.ciclovida.ufpr.br/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/bpp_pdf/Manual%20Desenho%20Estacionamientos%20bicicleta%20%5BCiudad%20Viva%5D.pdf
They really take bike parking seriously in Santiago.

Thats pretty bad. Though theft protection wise, that bike is outstanding.
Not denying what u said but as a proud Cambridger I feel I have to point out that we are the prestigious bike theft capital of the UK (per head)...
... According to Cambridgeshire county council.
