I was wondering this lately. What are the bicycle theft statistics and how do they compare to other cities/countries?

Anybody you ask will tell you bicycle theft is a big problem in their city. Anywhere.

We have the most bikes per head too, so not surprising. The better stat would be bikes stolen per bike.

It mentions to not lean the bicycle driveside towards the post. Is this just to avoid side pressure on the chain tension? Leaving oil in the communal parking post? Or is there a bigger reason for it?
