Does anyone know if cycling face masks even begin to stop the kinds of particulates we've seen in high concentration this morning?
IIRC, they stop PM10 only, but it's the PM2.5 which are the real killers. That makes cycling face masks more of a political gesture than a health protection.

@olaf_von_pokemon for the smaller particulates (along with NOx, CO etc) its even worse, as they cause you to breath more deeply as they are obviously slightly restrictive and thus inhale MORE of them...

Does anyone know if cycling face masks even begin to stop the kinds of particulates we've seen in high concentration this morning? This morning's ride has left me feeling like crap I might nip out and buy one for the ride home - that or do it at snail's pace.
