Such horrible news again. RIP, rider.

I work in an office on the roundabout. Just popped out to get my lunch through the bubble door and saw the tent. Heart dropped. Checked here, fears confirmed. RIP lady rider. Hits so much harder when it's close to home and a bit of road you use everyday.

Truck again though. Something needs doing ASAP with those. Just some extendy bumpers on the front and side. Can it be beyond the wit of man?

There is a big development going on straight across and to the left on Horseferry Road. Previously there weren't that many of those types of vehicles crossing Lambeth Bridge; they'd mainly use Vauxhall. I used to use Lambeth quite a bit but the sudden increase in tipper trucks behind you on a narrow bridge was horrid.

So sad for this poor woman and everyone who knows her.
The lorry involved is a relatively small (18 ton) tipper carrying asphalt, the type often seen at roadworks. It is only a few years old and seems to have all the mirrors required but is not fitted with sideguards as will become compulsory from September. We cannot yet say if having sideguards would have made a difference in this crash.

Agreed, i work between the bridge and the developments and have noticed a massive increase in HGV traffic over the last year.

That said, i still prefer Lambeth bridge to Vauxhall as the traffic speed is much slower.

Interesting also, there was a police officer at this very junction this morning as part of operation Safeway :(

Terrible news. She held a prominent position at the V&A museum for 13 years, and now working for the Royal Household.

We cannot yet say if having sideguards would have made a difference in this crash.

It won't stop people driving over others.

As long there's tippers, people will die every now and then.
