Does it say where he lives on the Gumtree add?
-
• #4
A quick look on Gumtree says Notting Hill, and shows his phone number...
EDIT. They're also selling another bike in Nottingham, which would figure I guess.

Contact Gumtree direct. They have people in their office dedicated to this service of selling stolen items.

Cheers guys, i've contacted Gumtree and got a number from them the police can ring which will allow them to give the users details out to the police. As it was registered in Nottingham the police are currently filing the crime report and passing it over to the metropolitan police so just waiting to hear more really. She said they can't promise to have anything done in the next 2 days though which really sucks

I've got the guys name, address, phone number, facebook profile, yet the police still seem uninterested, mental! No wonder people have no issues stealing bikes

The only other thing you could do is go down on Friday to intercept the meeting, tell the buyer it's stolen and call the police on the spot

How did it go?
Hi guys, I recently (about 2 weeks ago) had my Specialized Langster 2014 stolen from Nottingham city centre, clean bolt cut through my kryptonite lock. I have pictures, frame number, everything from the bike and put it onto stolen-bikes.co.uk with the crime reference number etc - https://stolen-bikes.co.uk/stolen-bikes/specialized-langster-8/
I have been keeping an eye on sales platforms and yesterday found my bike for sale on Gumtree in London Notting Hill, I have contacted the police who asked me to arrange a meet up with the guy in which they would come with me, however, the guy has told me that he's arranged to meet someone on Friday to sell the bike for £340. I even tried offering him £400 (above what he was asking for the bike) and that I could meet him today to grab the bike, but he seems to be loyal to the sale on Friday.
What would you guys recommend in this situation? It's obviously difficult for me being in Nottingham but I'm willing to travel down to London to get my bike back. Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
Cheers!
