  • I'm looking for some simple, free software to help with with tidying a few photos before I put them up onto Flickr or somewhere.

    I'd like it to do cropping with guides within the crop area, so I can see those magic thirds, and rotation to a line, so I can draw a line over the image, and it rotates the photo so the line is level. Any suggestions?

  • You Mac or PC? The new "Pictures" software for Mac should sort you out when it comes out. Lightroom is probably the best, if you can get hold of it.

    If you are PC, again look for Lightroom, though Gimp is an open source free version of Photoshop.

    Pretty sure they've never actually intended to build a PS clone.

    Paint.net is nice. It's like a halfway point between PS/GIMP and MSPaint.
