I used to carry quite a bit of food, but stuff you can get at petrol stations is a lot better now, I probably would only carry a few energy bars.
I also used to have a great big piece of bubble wrap to unfold and sleep in /on. I think that was my best carry. That and all the foul weather stuff that I didn't need on warm days. Always nice at night to have a full winter wardrobe to slip into. And a spare pair of shorts, which made a nice pillow. Even after they had been worn. -

Update with the bag on its new home minus the cludge I put together to get the bag to rest nicely on the rack.

Camper longflap by Emma. Just the thing for a few days' touring. Wasn't sure about the Bagman support but has held up.

Looking at getting a Super C SQR Slim & a Super C handlebar bag for a holiday trip a week on Monday. Does anybody know how fast the delivery is directly from Carradice?
-
• #657
Carradice shoulder strap to replace the creaking original on my Topeak trunk bag.
^ Pretty quick in my most recent experience, albeit it was only an accessory. Ordered on a Tuesday night, dispatched on the Thursday morning and received on the Saturday (iirc).

Cheers, I've ordered. Fingers crossed.

Anybody used a Super C saddlepack. The one with webbing attachments rather than the SQR?
-
• #660
Yup, use the saddle pack for Audaxes and long day touring. I've fixed it both to saddle loops and also wrapped around seat rails, both work well. Width is good with no leg rub under my Brookes Swallow. Side pocket with zip handy and elastic for stowing wet cape useful to. Big advantage of this fixing method is weight of clips, rack etc are omitted, which is significant. Anything else you want to know?

That about covers it, just what I was after. Cheers. Will get one ordered this week.

Ordered Super C Saddlepack yesterday morning, arrived this morning, that's what I call service. Very happy with it, everything I need for the commute fits in,with room to spare. Made by Kelly. Cheers Kelly and Carradice.

I bought a pair of rear Super C panniers last year from a fellow forumonger.
Only just seen this thread. I'll inspect it more as I need to decide on which other bags are going to accompany them on my Mercian Tourer, when it's ready. Thanks Pricsilla
I won't update the list till I've gone through the thread and made sure the person I bought them off hasn't already added.

Just wondering if there is an issue using a carbon seatpost with a bagman rack and long flap bag?

Just a little tip for people with snapped straps or buckles on their Carradice luggage.
I'd left my garage back door open by accident one night and something got in and ate all the straps off my Carradice panniers and Nelson! I reckon it was a young fox, desperate for anything resembling food.
Anyway, I've tried to get the bags fixed with little luck, then I came across the Speedy Stitcher!
Really easy to use, a properly solid little bit of kit. I bought some straps from Carradice, cut them to size and stitched them on with my Speedy Stitcher. Worked a treat! You can pick them up on ebay for about fifteen quid. -

A fox?! Are you sure you don't live on any popular audax routes? Could have been a mid-bonk randonneur who caught the scent after a string of non-commercial info controls...
The Speedy Stitcher is awesome though, picked one up last year to add some extra straps on mine, really quick and easy to work with!

Either a fox or a rat, but one bag was on a bike hung from the roof - too high for ratty! I suppose a squirrel would be a good contender but they scoffed a total of seven straps. I reckon a squirrel would be pretty stuffed after two! Either way, there were obvious tooth marks in the leather. Whatever ate them had expensive tastes!
The Speedy Stitcher did a cracking job so all's good. -

Yeah, a fox or similar ate the leather toe straps on my touring bike, when it was left in the garden overnight. They also tore into the paddling pool. Which was not made of leather.

A fox knocked over my woodpile last night. Took ages to stack. Traces of blood were left at the scene from a few nails sticking out of some of the wood. I reckon the rebuilt pile will be safe.

I feel sorry for city foxes, like the ones I see in Brighton. They're so malnourished and beaten up. I have no idea why they don't just live in the lush countryside on the Downs. Crazy foxes!

Disaster strikes!
Bagman 2 sheared in half yesterday. Not entirely sure why, wasn't carrying an especially heavy load.
Shame, as they're not exactly cheap.

^ cumulative fatigue?
Bought a zipped roll on eBay last night, factory shop 2nd as badge is offset by just 10mm.
From my limited experience on the few longer rides I believe:
schlepping large bags on every ride > repacking due to weather etc. for every ride.
