If you don't mind the weight they're very good, though I had two punctures on these on my road bike today, granted I do use them everyday commuting and weekend rides so no surprise that I wore through the rubber to the blue. #NeedNewTyres

You worn through to the blue rubber and then got punctured.

New rear GP4000s II lasted one ride. A stone must've got stuck below the rear brake. The whole tyre has a deep cut along the center line.
Binned. -

Gp4000s just wore out so put some Schwalbe one on today. They roll really, really well and allow me to run 25c as they run a few mm shorter than GP4000s and don't foul the brake caliper. Will see how they wear...

Tubeless? Very tempted to try some Ones out.

One has replaced the Ultremo hasn't it? Know quite a few people using them in various clincher/tubeless/tubular configurations and all seem happy.

It was last week on Crackyon website where it was a deal where the schwalbe one tyres (25mm) was £21, probably can get better deals if you know someone with trade price I think.

Nah, just clincher. Got them from Evans for £24 each (£5 off discount code is ECWEM6). Really, really happy with them. I don't know if it's just the comfort of them compared to the 23c GP4000s I've had on there for the past 6 months, but they're super comfy, on smooth roads I think they're better than I remember the 25c gp4000s being.
Might have to let a bit of air out as some of the roads are shit around here (York/wolds/Howardian hills), but even at a relatively hard 85psi on archetypes they seemed to soak up a lot. They corner really well as well, though some of that may have been psychological as I'd read so much about them 'sticking to the road'. Felt very confident descending on them anyway, even on shitty surfaces. -

How much do you weigh?
-
• #1337
Personal question... About 12.5 stone. I didn't check the PSI chart so may be way off with my recommended air pressure. Previous tyres were fucked so grabbed some Schwalbes before my ride this afternoon.
-
• #1338
Ha! Just curious as I'm on Archetypes and 25mm: reckon I can afford to let them down a bit :)
-
• #1339
Possibly, yeah. There are charts but I'm not sure they account for 23mm rims, if that even makes a difference. 85 felt fine and not 'sloppy'. May take a bit more out for next ride.

Doesn't see to work for me - Is there a certain purchase criteria?
-

Ah, may have been an Easter weekend only thing. I can't remember where I got it from, but google usually has a voucher for Evans.

• #1342
Ah, never mind.

They don't, it's very much a personal preference, drop it to 75psi and see how that feel.

stick latex tube and you'll be right as rain, or get the 27mm, and enjoy the amazing comfort at high pressure.
Speaking of tyres, I have test the Clement Strada LGG 60tpi for a while now, it's an improvement over the Panaracer Pasela for those who want a tough and reasonably light road tyres with gumwall.
However, it's stiff, I ran them at a lower pressure than I usually would (70psi rear, 60psi front), it grip well, and seem to held up against the usual abuse.
Sticking to 25mm Open Pave as they felt much more comfortable even at a higher pressure due to the supple nature.

Can't do latex for transcontinental. And wondered if tubeless would be a better option for reliability.
-
• #1347
That I'm afraid is entirely up to you.
Steven seemed to be getting on well with the tubeless wheel during the 1YTT and can see the appeal, they exist in 28mm which help.
I like the idea that the tubeless tyres can block puncture while riding, rather than having to get off and patch the inner tube.
Actually go for it.
-
• #1348
Yeah I just can't decide if it's worth it (going to be faster).
-
• #1349
It's a tough one. In an event like the transcontinental you'd think punctures protection has got to be the way to go, until you break it down.
Unless they've improved without me noticing (which is totally possible) tubeless road tyres lose a bit of speed next to race tyres (due to stiffer sidewalls) and they're a bit heavy. Perhaps that costs you 10mins a day, but saves you a puncture every two days (which takes 10 mins to fix inc. stocking up on a new tube). It's not so simple.

Schwalbe One tyres in 28 will be the new tyres on commuto x bike.
+1
For me regular Duranos are good and still tough.
