It's a tough one. In an event like the transcontinental you'd think punctures protection has got to be the way to go, until you break it down.
Unless they've improved without me noticing (which is totally possible) tubeless road tyres lose a bit of speed next to race tyres (due to stiffer sidewalls) and they're a bit heavy. Perhaps that costs you 10mins a day, but saves you a puncture every two days (which takes 10 mins to fix inc. stocking up on a new tube). It's not so simple.
