I watched Blade Runner again last night inspired by this, just the original cinema release version, had forgotten how good the sound and the score was, excellent.
John Wick was a good fun, non stop mindless adrenalin rush.
A Most Violent Year was decent but not as good as I was hoping, it just seemed to chug along. The Drop was by far the best of this genre I've seen the last few years.

Agreed. The Drop was my favourite film of last year. Really terrific.

Well the new release of BR Directors cut (#n+1) is amazing. Looks beautiful and the sound track is so integrated. Really worth seeing on the big screen again. Not sure what the main differences and additions are, but seems like there is a degree of more coherent restructuring
(...will google)What?

Le quattro volte: Category movies in which very little happens.
In a good way.

Force Majeure was excellent. Really enjoyed it even in flu addled state. The sound was particularly impressive in capturing the environment of the ski slopes. Funny and real life - some awkwardly real scenes too.. Definitely worth seeing at the cinema. Although there were a few ropey scenes - some of the scenery looked like miniatures, like a film from the 70's. weird.

Late to the party, but Locke was exceptional. Watched it last night while ill on the sofa, and it perked me right up!
The only thing I found annoying was the lack of road continuity on the M1. One minute he's on an A road and going across minor flyovers, then he's back on the M1, but that's probably only noticeable to someone who's spent too large a % of their life hammering up and down the M1 and M6.

Lol. Films always get it wrong. I'm often cringing when I see photographers depicted on screen. Bloody artistic license has a lot to answer for.

Also, his accent added a minor amount of mirth to the film.

From beyond (1986) first Lovecraft adaptation/inspired movie for me.
Bit camp in place, overacted but has some good moments, not a bad popcorn movie :)

Also keeping up late to the party films, Whiplash last night.
The whole thing looks like they applied an Instagram filter in post.

I know, and the robots are little metal balls in space. Brilliant.

I saw it at the BFI last Friday. It's the type of film that really benefits from a big screen, proper sound and your total undivided attention. Tempted to go see it again.

Yep, the pod race is superb on the big screen.
