prepping new tyres for the track

  • It's common advice not to put new track tyres on and roll onto the track without taking off the layer of sealant that comes from the manufacturing process (a thin film of slippy stuff!)

Not sure I like the idea of taking sandpaper to new tyres to prep them for the track - would 30 mins on rollers do?

Failing that should I put them on the road bike and do 30 mins prior to the track session?

  • Rub them down with white vinegar. That should do the trick.

  • +1 vinegar.

  • Vinegar or alcohol

  • Wasting booze on tyres Dan, nerged.

  • Just remember no malt vinegar.

    You'd be surprised...

  • Mad skidz

  • Just want to resurrect this one, got some open corsa slicks (ks), think the 20 mins slow roll to the track would be enough? We're talking HHV not Lee Valley.

  • Standard practice then! To be honest there's probably more crap coming on them going through the car park behind the pavilion!

  • .

  • Only up and down the stairs from the flat....

  • .

  • I'm an embarrassment... it was the fatal track-stand-bottom-step incident, never again.
