If you've dropped your phone, it sounds like the screen may have a hairline crack on the underside, or on the surface. This potentially interferes with communication to the digitiser.

It's a replacement handset, just a few weeks old and not dropped.

have you tried using a different keyboard? Also I seem to remember it mainly being an issue in Chrome?
