  • Found a pair of these bronica etr-c on gumtree, got them delivered from cardiff.
One has a fair amount of fungus in the lens as listed, the other has a little bit too. Going to give them a run of film each to see if the fungus affects it much, and if not will probs sell the other to a mate who's also looking to get into medium format.

Photos inbound. Just gotta get me some film first.

  • Hey all, its been a while since I checked in on this thread.
I totally forgot to post about this a long time ago... I started making these exposure record notebooks for people shooting film last year. A successful Kickstarter helped me print a big first run. The response has been pretty great so far. Check them out: http://www.analogbook.com

On a completely separate note, I'm looking for a temporary camera borrow/swap. I had this last minute gig come up that involves me being in the Peruvian Amazon. I want to lighten my load and not take my standard Pentax 6x7 workhorse. If anybody has one of those Travelwide 4x5 cameras by Wanderlust, Fujifilm GF, or a Mamiya 7 system or something like that I could borrow for a month and half that would be incredible. I'd be happy to swap any of my cameras for you to use and/or insure yours for my trip. I know it is a long shot but I thought I'd put it out there!

  • got mugged off at sendean cameras for £40 for 5 rolls of portra, its like half price online :(
Will have to return it and buy elsewhere, despite their great customer service and supporting an independent shop rather than amazon etc.

  • ilford hp5+ in caffenol

  • I've borrowed a friends Mintola dynax 7000i and I need to get 2 rolls of 35mm film developed. One kodak 200 colour and one kodak B & W 400. I also need to replace the film I have used. Any recommendations of postal development service and where to get 35mm film?

  • @mi7rennie
Although they can take a fortnight or so to turn round, I can recommend snapsphotoservices for developing, it's where I send my 120 and any 35mm film that my local Boots won't touch! Snaps also sell film (as do Boots), and I've also bought from Lomography in the past (don't forget the carriage charge on small orders), it's also worth looking in Poundland for cheap film such as Agfa Vista 200

  • Agfa Vista 200

    +1

This is good stuff, if you're after happy primary colours, especially reds.
Pretty much sucks for nature & portraits on the other hand.

  • Cheers @NigelL , I've actually just bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MINOLTA-DYNAX-7000i-RETRO-35mm-35-80mm-ZOOM-FILM-CAMERA-CASE-FOR-RSPCA-CHARITY-/291414622500 as I've enjoyed shooting film so much.

Planning on buying a single prime lens for it and mainly shooting B + W.

Any recommendations of lenses of film would be much appreciated.

I'm going to try snapsphotoservices for development.

    Cheers,

    Mike

  • Mike, the Dynax is a great camera; only thing missing is full manual shooting, but aperture priority mode is fine and the AF is pretty fast. Fast - 1/4000th - max shutter speed too if you have enough light at your disposal.

I shot nothing but Velvia 100 on mine for about 3 years and it never failed me. I had a fixed 50mm MF Sigma on it, here's a couple of very old shots from Japan.

As for film, I'd start out with some cheap B&W film just to get used to the camera, then hit up Poundland for colour st0ck.

  • I thought for £18 (including postage)I can't go wrong! Thinking a wee nifty 50 MF lens would be another 20 and that will be a fun little setup.

How does everyone digitise their photos.... just thinking about it seems like a crazy thing to do as I have an awesome digital camera and lenses but somehow I've found the last few days shooting with the Dynax thrilling and it's really made me consider how I compose and setup for a shot! It's got to be good training for my photography skills in general.

    Love the shots BTW!

  • I scan my negatives using Vuescan and then use Photoshop/C0lorPerfect to get the colours right. This is probably the best tutorial I've found on the process...

    http://benneh.net/techshit/vuescan-colorperfect-a-guide/

The only problem is the costs of VueScan and ColorPerfect. But worth it if you ask me.

  • Do you develop your own film first to get the negatives?

  • If it's black and white yes...colour I'll send to a lab.
Black and white is so easy to do it's better to do it at home.

  • Ok, I'll consider doing it myself but I might start with a lab doing it.

  • Olympus XA / Portra 160

  • Any opinions on Ilford FP4 B+W? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321660927049?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Also looking for a Minolta A mount 50mm lens if anyone has something they are looking to shift.

  • I quite like Fp4 but if you want quicker turn around I'd suggest XP2 400. It's a C41 process film so you can use any old lab to get the film processed. Most places seem to send their B&W film away for processing.

For labs I'm a fan of Peak Imaging in Sheffield. I've also heard good things about Aperture in Rathbone place. If you check this thread and maybe the SPFG thread Indra gives some good tips on where to go...I trust his judgement more than my own most times.

  • Hey I'm going on a trip to London and Copenhagen leaving Scotland on Saturday. Is there anything you guys would suggest for me to do in either of these cities? Planning on bringing my Contax T2 and Sony Nex 6.

  • Alright cheers for that I was worries that iso 400 might be a bit fast but at least it will let me keep shutter speeds up meaning less shaky shots.

  • lomo xpro 200 (processed normally in e6)
really like this film when it's not cross processed

(this was underexposed about infinity stops because of camera issues but I kind of like it)

  • provia 400

  • That are amazing! What camera are you using again?

  • Great shots
