Mike, the Dynax is a great camera; only thing missing is full manual shooting, but aperture priority mode is fine and the AF is pretty fast. Fast - 1/4000th - max shutter speed too if you have enough light at your disposal.
I shot nothing but Velvia 100 on mine for about 3 years and it never failed me. I had a fixed 50mm MF Sigma on it, here's a couple of very old shots from Japan.
As for film, I'd start out with some cheap B&W film just to get used to the camera, then hit up Poundland for colour st0ck.

I thought for £18 (including postage)I can't go wrong! Thinking a wee nifty 50 MF lens would be another 20 and that will be a fun little setup.
How does everyone digitise their photos.... just thinking about it seems like a crazy thing to do as I have an awesome digital camera and lenses but somehow I've found the last few days shooting with the Dynax thrilling and it's really made me consider how I compose and setup for a shot! It's got to be good training for my photography skills in general.
Love the shots BTW!
Cheers @NigelL , I've actually just bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MINOLTA-DYNAX-7000i-RETRO-35mm-35-80mm-ZOOM-FILM-CAMERA-CASE-FOR-RSPCA-CHARITY-/291414622500 as I've enjoyed shooting film so much.
Planning on buying a single prime lens for it and mainly shooting B + W.
Any recommendations of lenses of film would be much appreciated.
I'm going to try snapsphotoservices for development.
Cheers,
Mike
