VONK Tweevielers - that's quite a club name!
-
• #3
what kind of wheels do you plan to have on this bike?
-
• #4
Ideally shallow black rims/ black hubs/ silver spokes. But realistically I'll probably end out picking up a set of second hand Miche Pistards or something similar.
-
• #5
if you are going for shallow black rims do not get those chunky OCR forks(if you r yet to buy them) save your money for slimmer forks.
-
• #6
That was the plan initially, but haven't had any luck finding something that I really like.
On that note, if anyone has a 1" straight blade carbon fork they're looking to sell, let me know.

Nice, saw this for sale. Will be watching with interest

@kgrev, Mr. Jan lives around the corner from me and always has some forks for sale:

Thanks for the heads up. I actually missed out on a set of NOS Profile forks that Jan was selling over the weekend. Those times you linked to would be perfect, except the headtube on the Davanti is 16.5cm, which is apparently quite long.
And I live in Amsterdam so Utrecht is pretty manageable. Thanks for the offer though.

Those drop-outs are at a funny angle.

think it would good with a threaded kenesis fork, i was thinking of buying it an that was the look i had in mind.

That's a great looking fork.
However, in keeping with me being cheap, I've got a set of carbon look forks on their way. Will let me get the bike rolling, and right now that's the priority.

Steel on alu frame is always a good look

Doesn't look bad at all. Needs a plastic wheel!

Looks sick

So managed to free up some funds to get this finished. Going to be a pretty bitsy build, but I'd rather have it rideable and ugly than pretty and in pieces.
Have just received a Sugino Messenger crankset to put on there, if I understand correctly I need a 103mm JIS bb? Any that I should avoid?

I have some pistards if you're interested? Black rims, silver spokes, silver hubs though. Let me know and I'll post some pics.

I just bought some a few days ago, thanks for the offer though.

Quick mock and shitty photo to get an idea of angles/clearances.

Have the bike built up sans bb/cranks.
Small problem. The threads on the driveside of the bottom bracket aren't deep enough for the bb. Meaning the threads don't grab at all.
Is chasing the bb going to help this? Or do i have a bigger problem?

So it only took 5 months, but finally got this built up and rideable.
It's a pretty great time.
Also, 710mm is too wide for a set of bars.

First time with drops since having it built. Compact bars mean I need a longer stem, but feels good regardless.
Town gearing is also teaching me to spin...

This thread is probably a bit premature, but I received the frame today and since I can't start building it I'm going to post photos of it on the internet.
The plan is to build up something that is fun round town, and can also be taken on the occasional big ride. The main problem has been tracking down an appropriate fork, which has been made difficult due to the 1" headtube which is also quite long. I've recently tracked down an old set of carbon Giant OCR forks which are appropriately big, but they will be more of a stop-gap than anything else.
Otherwise the build won't break any new ground, due to me being cheap. Flite/ Sugino Messenger/ quill/ risers should be fun and affordable. Itching to strat riding it essentially.
Will do my best to keep this vaguely updated/ interesting.
