Fitting BLB Rear Mudguard

Posted on
  • I recently bought some BLB mudguards, the flat alloy ones, to out on my BLB Track thinking it'd be a straightforward job. My clearance was pretty tight so added a link into the chain but there's absoljtely Jo chance they'll fit with 23c tyres. To get enough clearance the wheel would have to be out the back of he dropouts.

The bracket I've got is as in the instructions but any photos I've seen on the Internet have the mudguard much much closer to the seat tube than you could achieve with this setup.

    Any tips?

  • In the top pic it looks to me like there's the 2 parts of the clamp that fit around the seattube, an L shaped extender attached to the rear of the clamp by 2 screws and then the guard.

In the 2nd image either the L shaped extender is missing and the guard is bolted straight to rear of seat tube clamp (is this possible) or the L shaped piece is fitted standing up rather than laying down as the end of the guard is much higher in the 2nd image than it would be in the 1st.

  • One would hope the L piece can be fitted horizontally or vertically.

  • Not possible. The l-bracket has a thread on it as does the seat tube attachment. I've got a simple non-threaded l-bracket coming from SJS that'll hopefully sort it.
