Was in the Studio on Thursday and Friday recording to 2" tape no less. Well, sending signal to 2" tape then feeding into pro-tools. Sounding great.

Cheers EB will grab that tonight.
I'm going back to Soup in Limehouse next week to mix. Comping vocal takes at home till then. Going for vibes we recorded the lead and harmony vocals together face to face so I'll have to replicate edits in both. Sang everything into a pair of Coles 4038 ribbons. Sounding pretty sweet at the moment.

^ you need an iLok account but I think you don't actually need the iLok to use it, you can register it to your PC (Mac)

Holy shit! That lovely lovely dude at Adam Audio just called to say that he'd found the fault and fixed my monitors. Just bought him a bottle of brandy as a thank you. Be excellent to each other dudes. xx

Good news!

Picked them up in Brixton last night. The guy who fixed them at Adam Audio was a total legend. Spend 45 minutes hanging out in his office listening to reggae on my speakers and chatting rubbish. Got them all plumbed in the new home of "Lewisham Heights Studios" (the corner of the living room, between the dining table and the door) and they're sounding great. I was afraid to crank them before for fear of inducing the fault but they guy told me that they can actually handle a beating and as a rule unless I can see the woofers jumping about alarmingly from across the room I'm probably fine. *CRANKS
I need some new cables though. Where does one order custom cables from? I need two short female right-angled XLR to 1/4" speaker cables.

I'm back in at Soup next Monday to finish off mixing the EP. Including some lo-fi Foley work to be done which includes blowing bubbles in a bottle with a straw.

I usually look on eBay first, then audiospares.com, then if they don't exist or look like the connectors would be shit I make them myself.

What I need is sold out everywhere. Do I need any specialist equipment (other than the cable and connctor sthemselves) to make my own cables? Anyone got any hot tips?

You'll need a soldering iron.

Check. Haz. Think I've got most of what I need. I'm just going to order some bits and give it a go.
In fact, given that I've got a huge box (trunk actually) of mic cables and guitar leads I could probably canibalise the parts from what i've alreay got...

Classic. Need two short speaker cables cost approc £6 each but out of stock most places. Decide to "save money" by making my own. Spend alsmot £90 on parts, tools and other bits.
Going to have to make a lot of cables to claw back that outlay. Anyone want to place an order with me for any guitar/mic leads?
