I have the Ocean 1 Black (albeit with the added ceramic bezel) and there's no doubt it's a "copy" although i think, as long as it's not got the Rolex name stamped on it, i prefer "homage".
I'm not sure i share the same opinion as you though about it being a negative. I know it's a copy; i know the movement is inferior and the rest of the materials aren't quite as refined. I don't kid myself that it's the real deal. This allows me to use it as an everyday watch which I can chuck about and not have to worry about the servicing costs or the odd scratch or dent.
I own an Speedmaster and will soon own a Rolex Explorer too. These are saved for high days and holidays where I can treasure wearing them.
Best of both worlds...
I would buy a rolex or something different that is more affordable.
Such a blatant copy feels wrong on every level for me, there are so many other watches to choose from after all. I won't be able to afford a rolex for a good while but will still hold out for the real thing if it ever happens (although likely just get other watches)
