Hi @apc. The swap should be very easy. You will need a 8mm Allen key to undo the bolt on the drive side. It's a self extracting system therefore the crank will come off on its own without the need of a crank puller. Once that's off you pull out the spindle and non-drive side crank arm. Lightly grease the new spindle on your compact crankset and reinstall all the washers and parts the way they came off the bike. Tighten to a recommended torque.
Last but not least you might need to lower and readjust the front derailleur to accommodate for a smaller chainring on the front.

...obviously you will need the bb30 version of the compact crankset, otherwise it won't fit.

True, but that negates the benefits of having bb30. Nonetheless you're right, it can be done.
can I swap out a bb30 crankset (force22 for compact force 22) without damaging the bearings?
If so what tools do I need, given that I am not pressing any new bearings in etc
