  • Brazilian or Russian?

  • more importantly, why are you strava-ing a 1.5 mile trip to the shops?

  • Ha!

I just keeps a record of everything I do for exercise. Given my bad back it enables me to see if doing more miles is affecting my spine. Also trying to count calories in vs calories expended so I upload all activities to Strava. It just strikes me as odd that there are serial kudos givers who are tracking my every move including my short hops on a bike.

  • They're automated bots. They're hoping that because they've given you kudos you will follow them (much as people do reciprocal following on Twitter/Facebook/etc). The general idea is that accounts with lots of followers will be valuable for spamming at some point in the future.

No-one is actually sitting there and clicking the Kudos button for your ride.

  • Don't tell him that, he'll be cranking himself to sleep every night now.

  • Criwankevrytim allthetim

  • Trying to plot a route on Strava on a new laptop and it's driving me crazy: instead of being able to place a waypoint I end up zooming in and out half of the time. It's as if the touchpad is too sensitive or I'm making some sort of swipe motion to prompt zoom (though I don't think chromebooks have any of this kind of stuff). Any solution to this?

  • Use a mouse?

  • I'd forgotten those existed, maybe I'll have to invest.

  • Uploading ye olde commute to Strava iPhone app tonight - noticed that there is an OPTION to add a photo (as opposed to relying on auto linking something already posted to Instagram).
Looks like Strava have woken up to the fact that adding a pic to a ride should be a little easier.

  • should be a little easier

Also makes sense business-wise to not have such a popular feature run by someone else. :)

  • Excellent, what strava needs is more segments creating and pictures of peoples epic rides.

  • There is a Climbing King competition on strava that covers my Whole county.

    I am currently 2nd for 2015.

This is of course more Down to me being one of the few idiots to be climbing snow covered Mountains in sub zero conditions on a road bike. Than any real climbing ability. But if it rains untill october I'm in With a chance at the podium.

    _does a rain Dance-

In other News. I nearly ended myself lastr night attacking one of the designated Climbs. A farmer had left a gate across the road open. I was empty, and felt the climb should be finished. But I'd never done this Climb before and continued up. Things turned proper nasty, as I tried to Climb a 12% gravel path, at max HR. Looking at Strava I'd over shot the segment and disappeared up some trail. Bloody farmers. Some sort of Orange flag system is needed.

  • Realised this weekend that the 'KOM' on my favourite local road is held by Katie Archibald, because it featured on last years Women's Tour, the top 50 are all female pros.

They go bonkers fast, it seems.

  • I was interested to see that Steve Abraham had been in my local area last night. I checked out his segment from wickham to the top of Portsdown hill and I'm faster, he was at the end of a 200 plus mile day but I'm still claiming it as a win.

  • Go and ride 10 200 mile days in a row, and come back and claim the win.

  • ^ Still doable, but check the average HR of his rides/segments though. That's what's so impressive, just how much he's riding within himself.

  • There's currently some bellend called Adam Day trolling Steve Abraham's most recent Strava ride claiming that Steve is 'fat' and that he could beat him up Ventoux (where this belljar is going soon apparently). Steve is slow and rubbish etc.

A quick google search suggests that he's an estate agent, so that explains it all rather neatly.

  • Some bumbag went out in today's 30mph winds and stole my only KOM. Cheating cheaty cheater.

The fact I set it on a similarly windy day is not relevant.

  • The iOS Strava app stopped half way through today's ride, I'm a bit pissed off as it was my longest ride this year. I had to enter the remainder of the ride manually which pissed me for again as manually enter stats don't count in the challenges.

    Pissed off

  • If u notice strava stopped recording, save and start a new ride, export GPX afterwards after upload, stitch them together in software and re upload to Strava.

  • so who has zwift invites?

  • I do, finally - took a while because I'm on a mac and they didn't release for this platform for quite a bit. I'd forgotten I had the invite until you posted that, might even give it a go later today!*

    * if it's actually released for mac and they're not just teasing me, that is
