Very general question, but when you're joining bits of tubing together with butt welds like this (not sure if that's the right term), what's the tolerance in the finish of mitred surface?
Does that make sense? What I'm asking is what's the biggest gap (between tubes) you can fill by welding over it?

Did some complex aero testing using computer modelling and real life wind tunnel experiments, thanks to a friend who works in the field. I have got him to represent the data findings in a graphic. Have also included @mdcc_tester T3 for comparison. The results were both pleasing and astounding.

That's my old set-up with UCI-legal seat post, 60mm risers, silicone rubber top tube protector and uncut steerer. Swapping to the illegal seatpost, 55mm risers, helicopter tape aerofoil top tube protector and trimming 20mm off the steerer has cleaned up the airflow approximately elebenty gazillion percent.

With a water bottle mounted between the extensions and using Mike Burrows wheels, my frame will be capable of perpetual motion @mdcc_tester.
I love Mike Burrows, and met him once, explained what I did and the sort of bikes I built. He told me that the very basis of my understanding of framebuilding was built on flawed concepts, and my bikes were shit and pointless. Should have been upsetting, but was actually one of the best days of my life. All in the delivery.
