this very probably is paul donahue built.. welcome to the club! (search donahue appreciation" for the thread..
the unicrown is probably drillabe; i have the same fork on my gw and that was homedrilled by someone before me. reckon you have access to a pillar drill?

Lovely looking frame!
I'd echo everything Rodolfo said except 'Donohue' with 'o'.
If you do drill, make sure you get the hole in the correct position as its all a bit tight in there for the brake drop etc.
Here are a couple of pics of my drilled fork for reference.

Cheers for the positive comments. And yep, I do believe the frame was built by Donohue.
I did think it would be tricky to get the drilling just right for a short reach calliper - thanks for the reference pics Jogger. Quite tight indeed. If I don't drill the existing forks I'll probably look for a set of 1" Columbus minimals or some 1" threadless Look road forks.
Dropped in at Fitzrovia cycles to chat about wheels - so many options. Have to decide and get something ordered.

Lovely frame! Welcome to the club (:
I've got some Reynolds Ouzo crabon forks going spare if any good.

Thanks TM. Yep could be interested in the forks. If you have more detail or pics drop me a PM. A quick google suggests they'd be OK depending on the model.

I'm avoiding doing any actual work today - figured I'd play in photoshop to look at wheels – I'll probably end up doing boring and functional (and cheapish) like in the first image or maybe look at archetypes, not sure if they work though.
Functional:
Silver:
Grey Archetypes:
hmmm
-
• #8
I love the grey archetypes, bu they won't stay grey for long.
Can you do one with silver archetypes?
Also, your post is a bit ugly (sorry..)
-
• #9
Ignore components they're what I could find quickly off the web. Will be different.
Silver archetypes - as in the hi polished ones? Dunno if I could live that.
-
• #10
Ah, wasn't sure if you could get them in a flat alu finish.
What about these, similar depth. CXP33s I think.
-
• #11
Hi polish - yeah, right idea but needs a satin finish.
Exactly as you just posted - I've always liked cxp33's - not really fussed about the whole wide rim issue either. Good shout.

Now, to find NOS CXP 33 in silver and 32h...
-

Those wheels on the Panasonic were Campag record hubs, the rear stripped, I failed to find a replacement Record 36h so bought a vintage Dura Ace hub (same flange pattern) to replace, but never got round to building.
The rims are in excellent condition, never braked on, maybe a couple of little scratches.
If you could face 36h I could get them unbuilt and you could have the rims, or have the wheels + the spare rear hub?

Ha, well played Tom. I might well be interested in the rims only. I'm currently looking for hubs with female axles - similar to goldtec
BTW, here's the bike with a pair of reynolds ouzos on there ;)

Aye, I don't to come accross as flogging my wares, I wasn't aware that archetypes were shinys shiny.
If I were you, I'd get the ano ones and just not brake.
Ouzos look alright, they look bigger than they should? teh skinny forks suit it nicely though are they crabonz?
-
• #16
No worries, it's actually appreciated - need to source parts to get this built. Just want to do it right, rather than in a chaotic mess like I normally do.
As for rim wear, I really don't mind if the front gets worn, with brake grime it'll look dark grey anyway!
re the ouzos - was hard to match as the angle was slightly off. I kinda think they're a bit beefy. Might stick with the skinny steel (solves the not braking too)

Friday afternoon comedy build:
Put together with a few random bits from the parts bin. Primarily because I'm impatient and I was keen to see it as an almost finished bike. The blue wheel is terrible, as is the the gold sprocket - but I'll be able to ride it and gauge the fit of everything at least.
I'm waiting on a wheelset based on black archetypes - but now I look at it I'm thinking that was an aesthetic error.... maybe all silver would have worked. hmmm.
Also waiting on some Ritchey Classic compact drops and a brake calliper to arrive.
And, cut the steerer, saddle height etc.
-

Steel forks looked a lot better! You can still do silver parts w/ the black wheels :).
-
• #19
needs white steel forks!
-
• #20
Yeah, ultimately it needs these (maybe painted):
But these forks should ride well, and that's the main thing. I might very well do the all silver parts once the wheels arrive. The bike is not light though - tipping the scales at 7.5kg currently.
Anyway, it's sunny out and I've hacksawed the steerer - time for a spin!

Has this been resolved yet?
-
• #22
Actually yeah, for the time being.
Here's a crappy phone pic.
Mostly happy. It rides well, quite stiff so it accelerates well. The wheels are great (Archetypes + surly rear hub and ultegra front hub) although a very weird combination. I probably should have built onto DA hubs. I gave up being fussy and just built it so it rides how I wanted it too.
-
• #23
Also, should add the DA 7710 crankset is awesome. All I really need is a -17 stem. could do with being a little lower.

Saw a matching Graham Weigh Roadie on ebay, get in(!)...

Ha, no way! Might have to put a bid in. I would be in so much trouble if I put another bike in the flat!
So finally have myself a new frame. Sourced from here which is nice and kindly carried all the way down from Manchester by c4shr.
The frame is in amazing condition and the paint is much better in reality. It has a nice white pearlescent base with hint of fluro fadez.
Still deciding how to build. I'll probably be using silver components - I already have a set of Dura Ace cranks - compact drops with hoods n aero levers.
Wheels wise, thinking low profile, black rims, silver spokes and hubs. Maybe.
I will need to source new forks as the current ones are uni-crown and undrilled. I'll keep those for track days. Unsure what to get as replacements.
This will be my everyday bike ( when I can lock up inside)
Anyway, pics:
