will give the initial angular velocity of the car's CoM, from which we can work out how much kinetic energy was delivered.
Not really, as you'd also want to know its moment of inertia to make that calculation.
Do you still have the figures you found for the car's mass, width and CoM height ?
My first approximation was based on 500kg and 1200mm, actual figures are more like 880kg and 1650mm, still no real idea of the height of the CoG other than speculation based on how easily they can be rolled - anything which can be rolled on a flat smooth road on street tyres must be falling over once it gets past about 45º
The advantage of the energy calculation is that it's easy on both sides, and you just have to guess the hysteresis. If you try to tackle it as a momentum problem, you have to keep switching between linear and angular, and you still have to convert to energy at some point because of gravity, you're not just trying to get the car turning about its long axis, you're having to lift it too. Also, the energy calculation shows you that it's impossible before you even have to get involved in anything more complicated.

I was wondering, if I hit backpack first would an equal amount of energy be transfered with less shoulder crumple?
Whatever you crush at the interface (Khornight, backpack, helmet or body panels) will absorb energy, and we've already established that you don't have enough energy to knock over a smart car, so it's probably best to save yourself and use your strength to flip it onto its back later.

where can I buy Aeropress filters in east london after 6pm?

Actually we tried this in school. One of our classmates had a smart car and we wanted to lift it away .
Turns out these things are fecking heavy, and also they have about no point at all to grab on, because they're all plastic on the outside. So we couldn't lift it with 10 guys...
We ended up pushing it to another parking space, as he forgot to pull the parking brake. -

We used to hide leavers cars with careful* application of a pallet truck when I worked in a supermarket.
*Probably not that careful, in retrospect

Never tried it with a Smart (mean) car. But. Many years ago. Rugby club. Alcohol. Centre's new Mini. You get the picture......

Maybe not east enough for you, but Workshop Coffee in Clerkenwell is open until 10 pm tonight.

A pallet truck would have made school SO much more fun...

Anyone know what the bikey place on Archway Hill in the Antique shop is? Lots of vintage jerseys hanging up by the looks of it...

This sounds like a challenge... I'm just going to have to get heavier and faster and start wearing metal shoulder pads...

Perfect, I'm actually Clerkenwell based so that works even better

Do graffiti laws apply to roads? I've never heard of anyone being busted for writing names of riders on the roads here or abroad.

Isn't it normally chalk?
I imagine vinyl paint could get slippery when wet whereas water-based paints should wash and wear away easily.

Well, the stuff written all over the French Alps was certainly there a long time after the '99 Tour... :)

What wheel builders are there way out West on a par with Arup?
-
• #67221
You can buy a touring bike on here and flog it post-tour for (nearly) what you paid.
This gets you touring on a suitable bike cheaply. It just means no excuse for endless LFGSS pages of anxious build micromanagement ;)

How far west and what kind of build? A&w cycles in South wimbledon are kinda west and the best builds I've had. But not sure of their experience with modern wheels! :)

Say I wanna do a little tour or something, I'm not gonna want to build a comepeltely new bike for a few weeks riding.
I'm serious, cheap, put some luggage, go touring, wreck it, then sell it for a little less than paid for.

Every now and again I forget how utterly horrendous otp hybrids are to ride and give myself a shock. They're like riding a shit horse.
There are plenty of old touring / cross bikes around to strap stuff to.

They are crap, but they work for those who doesn't care about bicycle, just to get somewhere.
The roads around Camber are shocking, concrete with wheel-breaking seams, you'll get no help there.
