What's the PC status of 'negro'?
As in my mother saying that thinks 'there must be negro blood somewhere in our family' because I have very curly hair?
My gf says its dodge, I think it's kosher, my mums not racist in slightest but could be a generation ting.

On the "Meet the UKIPers" documentary, even they chucked somebody out for using it on camera. Definitely not PC, but definitely a generational issue where people over about 60 would use it as a descriptive without any negative connotation.
There's almost certainly negro blood in all our families, even disregarding the general 'out of Africa' story of humans 60,000 years ago, there has been enough miscegenation in Europe since Roman times to make sure we're all fairly well mixed.

@edscoble, not kidding. Really wasn't sure how others viewed use of it. I googled it but couldn't really come to a meaningful conclusion from what I found.
It's definitely not a phrase I'd use - probably mainly due to not understanding how it'd be interpreted/it's connotations - when I said I thought it was kosher, I meant that I understood my mother meant no offence to anyone by using it. She is of the age group that @mdcc_tester referred to so...
I guess that if UKIP aint 'down with it' then that says a lot about its current connotations.

Kinda fit with the description of microaggression, usually in this situation, it's best to remind her that it's not an ok thing to says nowadays.

the description of microaggression
Microagression seems to be a thing which some professor made up with to keep his publication numbers up.
it's best to remind her that it's not an ok thing to says nowadays.
Wouldn't that be generational microagression? Denigrating an older person for using language which was perfectly fine when they were growing up will make them feel pretty bad.

Deal with it, gramps!

If you want to claim blackness be a bit more specific about it.

I'll give this a go. Was also having a chat with a mate and he indicated that apparently a ferrule is only required on the larger spinning side of the adjuster, not the smaller static end (I have them on both sides). I'll have to find a pdf of the adjuster manuals somewhere and see how it's done.

Cancelled a paypal payment because I put the wrong email address in, used some money from pp balance and some from my bank account. The funds from my PP account are back, but the rest has been taken from my bank account and hasn't appeared in my PP account. How long before it returns, and where will it turn up?
-
• #67139
It will come back to your bank account; how long have you waited? PayPal usually says 'up to 2 hours'.

Maybe it's two 'working' hours, which probably equals 3 days at a bank :-)

272mm DT aero spokes in black - where's the best place to buy them in small amounts?
-
• #67145
Which ones? Aerolite are €2.90 from http://www.bike24.com, they also have Aerospeed in 272mm/black at €1.39

I've acquired three old bikes in the last week or so. They're an old Triumph touring bike which had buckled and rusty 26 x 1 1/4 wheels with a Sturmey three speed, a BSA Tour of Britain frame and forks and a Raleigh Arena GTX complete with rusty 27 x 1 1/4 wheels. I bought the BSA and the Triumph for their Wrights saddles which I have revived. Which one should I put the only decent set of 27 x 1 1/4 wheels on and complete as an ebay sale?

Thanks.
Confusingly enough, it's DT New Aero that I had been looking at on sdeals.com
What is the difference between the Aerolite & Aerospeed, other than ~100g and £50 over a wheelset?
(Although 50p per gram seems like a reasonable weenie ratio.)
-
• #67148
DT New Aero is lovely but needs keyholed spoke holes.
Aerolite is a squished double butted spoke, Aerospeed is a squished plain gauge spoke. Aerospeed will be less aero as it's both wider and has a higher thickness:chord ratio, and also not as durable as the bends only have about 80% of the cross sectional area of the Aerolite.

Aerolite then. Because aeros and weenies.

Any bricks and mortar shops selling 25c GP4000S tyres?
Thanks. I definitely moved more than 3 months ago. I guess I'll just have to take loads of proof and see if I can blag it.
