I locked my bike outside my flat in Waterloo and a few opportunists tried to steal it. I had it locked up with a steel chain [1], and I guess it appeared breakable to them, so they pulled out my seat post, stuck it in the lock, and started twisting. They couldn't break the chain, but they wrecked the seat post and my front wheel (lock was through front wheel + frame). They also did some damage to the (aluminum) frame. There are no cracks in the frame, but there are a number of dents, including a few creased dents on the down tube. Pictures: https://imgur.com/YkLqpA1,XVo8Zwz,gs3scRN,hcPDK8r,psMh8Pk,0GBSBSO,nA6koZp
Now, I'm moving back to Canada in mid-July, so I'm debating riding this frame for the next three months and then throwing it out when I leave. I'll just be commuting with it and doing some longer training rides, nothing too intense.
Is that safe? Or am I taking my life in my hands by riding on the frame?
