That's interesting. When I got back on my Cadex a few years ago it felt so slow in comparison for me; sure it was less tiring to get up hills, but I felt I could power up things much quicker fixed. I guess it's all about cadence matching with gears - if you can't keep your legs spinning at a high enough rpm to warrant changing down a gear, then you've never going to go any faster. I know when I used to ride long distances with gears when I was younger I'd just get stuck in my lowest gearing and still end up grinding up hills, just a lot slower!

I know what you mean though, I just really enjoyed blasting through the city at 35mph and then dropping down a couple to do 25mph up inclines I'd struggle to do 16mph up riding fixed.
It has also made me realise that when I get Cami back on the road it'll be with a much smaller GI so I can get into spinning and hill climbs rather than mashing along and destroying my knees!
