    So frame 3...looks it's a 54 and not a 51-52. I may go f-it and built it up porteur style with a freewheel and nice metal chainguard, and keep Eddie Balk as the fixie.

  • 105 cassette and force shifters turned up today. Waiting on rival brakes in the post and then I've got chain and bar tape left to finish the GT.
    Bar tape colour? Silver frame, all black parts but I have pink and blue decals possibly going on.
    Also, chain spotters, worth it?

    Wide? According to Fulcrum, all the CX wheels use the same 20.5mm outside/15mm inside rims as the road versions.

  • That's the badger, 28mm feel nice and normal on it, which is a bonus.

  • Tempted to put Racing 5LG on my road bike, would be good for annoying people even more as it already has SRAM, Shimano, Campag, Pro, Profile, Look, Selle Italia, Vittoria and Revl parts, so one more different logo can't hurt. Obviously I'd need to get some Continental GP4000S2 eventually, as Vittoria tyres on Fulcrum rims is going to seem a bit too 'All Italian' :-)

  • I'd go for the 7, it got j bend spokes that make it easier to replace, very cheap too.

    Make sure the tyres colour doesn't match, very important.

    With the 5 being only £150 from bike-discount.de, I think I can afford to be a bit tarty :-) To me, it looks like it's only the drive side rear spokes on the Racing 7 which is J-bend anyway, the rest of the spokes are straight pull.

    What will probably happen is that as soon as I get some 5LGs, they'll announce a Quattro LG which is what I'd really like if it existed.

  • Deda rmh01 + nitro pearl stem. Holy coconutmacaroon. The clamp is fully loose but it won't go over bend. Off to see what I have in tool box...

    Clamp on Diacompe front brake fork ends + human silicone cream (sex shop/anti chafing stuff) + hammer: Very easy.

    Vaseline may work too, but it doesn't feel as slippy. No scratches but this was on chrome.

  • While in France at the in-laws this weekend I found this in a heap of old shitty mountain bikes at the local Decathlon - it came complete with saddle bag containing a faded route card, a wolber pro tub still in its wrapper, a new tube of tub cement and 150 Francs in cash... They actually had some really good stuff and so so cheap! Gutted I just missed a pair of 10s campag chorus/ mavic ceramic wheels for 60euros!! Ah well...

  • So just picked up a Spectrum cycles pursuit frame.
    Actually had never seen a pursuit frame from them before, (mostly track and more tame modes of transport) so I couldn't resist this. The quality of the frame is second to none with super sharp hand made lugs blended in with smooth welds. No idea what the tubing is on this but feels really light (and thin) The paint is a very subtle fade from a greenish blue to a darker blue at back. Sadly it is pretty chipped in places. I am guessing this will be a long term build, as I have too much on my plate at the moment. Maybe later i will start a build thread.

  • To be honest, I just picked it up so as of yet i have totally no idea. So when i get around to this one i will open a thread and kick around some ideas for it.

  • Now I've got the slave whip back on the road as the commuter, I've been able to clean up the 'Dale and treat it to some new shoes (Cole C24 Lite wheels with Open Corsa SC rubber) for our upcoming trip to Hokkaido. Took it out for a quick spin this morning and it felt fast and Swains Lane felt easier than I remember (not been up there in over a year now).

    One issue though. I've put the old cassette on the new wheels and dialled in all the gears, but there seemed to be some clunking between changes that weren't there before and there was a bit of rattling over uneven surfaces that sounded like it was coming from the chain. Have I missed something on setup?

    If you're on 10 speed and the wheels are 11 speed you might need a spacer?

    Showing us that he's got the chain length right, so that's not the source of his woes.

  • Sounds like you haven't quite dialled in the gears.

  • Ha! I'm not a pro with gears, so I don't really change the front ring a lot. My flat is on an incline and I just knocked through gears to glide up the hill. Going up swarns was the first time I've used the inner ring since building the bike.

    I don't think the wheels are 11 speed. They were bought off ebay as a used tester Wheelset from a bike shop. The cassette fits fine with no movement.

    Might it be something to do with the angle adjustment of the derailleur?
