It was Brawn yeah.

Mr Brawn did very well. Bought the team from Honda for a quid. Sold it for millions to Merc. Well played.

According to Ecclestone Mercedes under Brawn knew details of the new engine well in advance compared to others and could develop it better. An advantage similar to Brawn's double diffuser and hardly a surprise given Whiting and Brawn are old times fishing friends.

Spot on Hamilton, BB. I like him. He can be a donut at times but name another driver in the same class that isn't.

The family tree is Tyrrell > BAR > Honda > Brawn > Mercedes

Okay thanks @BRM @bodieanddoyle I'm also looking at Austria, Budapest and Spain
Her family are based in Northampton so I thought it would be an easy first try - but Budapest is tempting.

@Tenderloin - Of those three I'd pick Spain.
And not just because Mrs b&d's Spanish either.

Apparently, Sauber aren't going to get into a 'mud fight' about how they took van der Garde's money in 2014 for a drive in 2015, and then sold his seat to another driver for more money. I suspect that in this case, Sauber's unwillingness to get into a mud fight is because they're all out of mud. Apart from the vast quantities which have stuck to them.
Definitely not supporting Sauber this year...

I think i would go Austria out of those three. Spain and budapest are dead flat and I reckon the Red Bull Ring would pretty good if you got the right stand.

The new paintjob sucks.

Can anyone explain how power stored by Kers is used to boost the engine when released?

magnets

So, kinetic energy is harvested from the rear wheels under engine braking. There is the KERS shaft connected to the main drive shaft which transmits this energy from the wheels, through shear physical torque to the Motor Generator Unit (which is now working as a generator) which then charges up the battery. When released it simply works in reverse – energy from the battery drives the MGU which is now working as a motor which transmits the energy through the KERS shaft to the drive shaft and to the wheels.

Thanks gridds, I thought it must be something like that. It is hard to imagine an electric 'motor' being able to speed up a shaft which must already be revving at such a high speed. Enjoy all of your posts. Shame about the German G P or is Bernie putting on pressure as he did with Silverstone? -

You're welcome.
I'm not really up to speed with what happened with the German GP but basically Bernie is all about money and he plays that game very well. He runs the show and he makes the calls on where races are run. This is mainly down to who can afford and is willing to pay his extortionate fees for running a race. Many circuits can't or won't pay his fees and hence they don't get a race. I'm sure there is a lot of other bullshit involved as well but yes, it's ultimately Bernie's call.
It's sad times when drivers in mid-field downwards effectively buy their seat....
