Almost jizz in pants, but Acoustic Research is quite a different kettle.

I love this thread, some of the names mentioned bring back great childhood memories.

Salvaged my late nan's amp the other day. I know nothing about it, other than it looks nice, even whether it works. Probably not been used in a long time. All 5 pin connections, and I don't know what the speaker outputs are. Can anyone shed any light on Rogers amps, or the best/ cheapest way to see if this is worth keeping? I think I can get pretty cheap adaptors for the inputs.

Th loudspeaker sockets are 2-pin DIN connectors. Quite cheap to buy.
Is it Rogers as in the loudspeaker manufacturer?

Seems that Ravensbrook is the model. Not uncommon, go for anywhere between 20-130 on eBay. I guess I'll get some connectors, hook it up and see how it's working.

Assuming that the capacitors have not dried out, it should sound pretty decent.
Maplin have DIN plugs if you don't order online. Cricklewood Electronics are better though.

I have some Atacama SE10 speaker stands that are lovely, but surplus to requirements...
Does anyone fancy them? http://www.stoneaudio.co.uk/?product=atacama+se10+speaker+stands

Yo, I might be keen, was thinking of a little system with my mission 780SE, where are u based and what kinda money are we talking?

^Ravensbrook nice artefact but won't make the earth move. V.early transistor design - they came on a lot in the years after with the big '70s silver boxes from Maranz, Yam etc. As a sentimental thing go for it, but for sound I would pass.

Ah ha!
Lol. Nice place, but that's like travelling to the moon :)

Always find it weird that Coogan never bothered to stop speaking like a middle class boy from Cheshire whilst he pretended to be from Norwich.

So with the passing of my old man, I've inherited a bunch of vinyl, but as a result of moving house a few time and break-up I was left without a decent setup. Decided to get something period correct for listening to his old stuff and with some decent luck I ended up with a nicotine stained (very appropriate) Pioneer SA-7500 for £10, a pair of Scandyna A-30's in great shape for £15 and a Pioneer PL-560 for free. The PL-560 is missing a cartridge and with the rather modest spend so far, I thought I might splash a bit of the inheritance on a good one. Any recommandations? I was looking at a Shure M97xE at a really good price earlier. Anything else I should consider?

Last call for my old Akai receiver and Wharfedale Laser 80s or they're going to charity shop. Free to a good home.

I'm using an Ortofon 2M Red at the moment and I can't fault it. That might be worth a look.

Yeah, might look into that one as well. Just got a picture of the PL-560 from my sister and it's missing the headshell as well, so I'll start my shopping with one of those...
From both left and right channel, individually?
