The fabric would be a bit water resistant, but there are two large vents/holes by the arch of the foot, so water will get in there sooner than you expect.
Despite the worries about the build quality of DZR in general, your best bet for better water resistance would be the DZR H2O's which I had for a little while and felt fairly robust. They do cost £135 though.

Best spd as casual footwear I've worn. The only ones I like as much are the DZR H2O's. Nice and solid, comfortable and feel bombproof, cleat recess is deep enough that your cleat isn't clacking on the ground, and the build quality makes them feel super tough. Bit of an ache when walking for long periods, but put that down to the stiffness of the shank.
anyway, highly recommended..
