  • SRAM is fine but Record is nicer IMO (to use, if not to own).

You say stock is low but why is this a problem? You only need one.

If you just want to tinker, fancy a change or would like some shiny new bike baubles the first step is admitting you have a problem... :)

  • Daily commute machine.
Been riding with stock "track" bars, just test rode the pictured setup and feels very comfortable :) will be adding some grips later of course!
Having 650b wheels with araya tx533 and novatech hubs built right now.
And looking for cheap wide racks.

  • Way to go, that design should be banned.

  • i do have a problem, that's nothing new :)

i meant that stocks are low in general. so i'll find a few screws and maybe even rim stickers.. but a freehub body? a rare sight as everybody just buys the wheels for their system.

  • Put this together recently. Its a Plum Vainqueur and I think its from the 80's.

  • Almost like mine! Looks great...very likely that it's one of the training bikes built for Wielerbond Vlaanderen that race at the Eddy Merckx velodrome in Ghent...built by Plum Vainqueur... ... What chainset is that?

do you know if yours used to have WBV decals? I've only ever seen one other one... there's some differences in all of them, like the fork crown and track ends...

  • This is very cool!

  • Any cross top lever. Road pull, and normally cheap as

  • Thanks mate. I've no idea about the decals, I'm not even sure its the original paint. If it was one of those bikes then I wouldn't mind getting some decals made, I think it needs something on the downtube. I've been trying to do some homework on the frame. Campag track ends and drop outs, helical rifling in the steerer and it takes a 27.0 seatpost so I think its Columbus PS. If thats the case i'd guess it was made in Italy, it certainly looks like a few older Italian frames I've seen.

Mines got the Ps on the fork crown and ultra tight clearance with 23s

And the chainset is DA on a campag bb :)

  • Minor tweaks and some bartape short of completion. Commuter for my wife, who seems reasonably chuffed. 700c looks a bit silly on tiny sloping frames but you can't have everything I guess.

  • @hypercolour @apollo nice rides! Huge and yellow.

  • ^^^chainset porn

  • trial bike :)

  • Cheers man!
Hope to at least fit 650b x 40

  • My new commuter!
A ciocc from the 90's in columbus EL-OS. I took all the parts from the previous one, which was a bit small, a bianchi mega X pro in deda zero HT steel.
The details: Shimano RS80 C24 wheelset and a dura ace 7700 groupset, 9 speed, almost complete except from the ultegra 6600 cranks (that I find way better and stiffer than dura ace 7700 cranks).

I've had a few different steel frames of great quality (columbus genius, slx, deda zero ht, reynolds 531, 653) but I must admit that this EL-OS easily surpasses them all :)

    How can you tell?

  • I don't know, it's hard to describe... I am not claiming anything in terms of different steel qualities, and I didn't write that comment to open a debate, it's only a personnal opinion from my riding experience :)
I'd say it is a very stable bike, smooth but not too flexy and very fast. For instance I had a colnago master olympic that was the exact same size but a bit longer, It fell completely different, more stiff I'd say. Same from my bianchi mega x pro, quicker to accelerate but more demanding at high speed.

  • It looks great

  • Just curious: all other variables eliminated, I doubt if I could tell the difference between types of steel frames.

  • not even between Cromo and Columbus Max?

  • I'd say it is a very stable bike, smooth but not too flexy and very fast.

You do realised that there's more to it than just the tubing right?

  • Of course I do. And I know the geometry has its role. I was juste sharing a feeling I had, that's all...

  • We need scientific evidence to support your claims!!!

    ;)

  • trial bike :)

Exactly. But I'm working on it. She'll be on a lo pro eventually. #notaneuph
