  • Pompino please, apologies.

  • I think a 0 degree stem would effectively give you a rise (on any bike where the HT angle was under 90deg (i.e. all of them)).

You need a 17 degree stem to make your stem flat. I think 17 is a standard because most HT angles are about 73 degrees so they add up to 90 degrees. This picture explains it a lot better than this fucked up explanation:

  • Awesome, thanks.

  • but isn't mark asking for the angle to line it up with the top tube, which is sloping? -17 would make it level with the floor

This looks like a 6 degree and seems to match the slope, but I guess it depends on frame size

  • Sorry, completely missed that point and essentially answered a different question!

  • I reckon it will vary with the frame size, IIRC the small is more slopey on the top tube than the others. My advice would be to get a pitch meter and measure both the top tube and head angle on your chosen frame and then do some simple geometry.

  • Tough one. Love the pompino v4 geometry but sure would like to run Pompetamine 130mm spaced rear hub and disc brakes.

  • All good. I was indeed asking re sloping TT, purely aesthetics. Had a feeling it would be a 0 degrees, thanks for confirming!

  • .

  • my pompetamine matches well with a -6

  • Why would you ever run a disc brake on a 130mm hub?

Who even makes 130mm disc hubs???

  • Doesn't matter, Pompetamines are 135mm, which is probably what he meant to write.

  • 2nd prospetive dibs.......

  • I wish I had bought a pompetamine instead of a pompino :(.

  • .

  • I am looking at getting a derailleur hanger and a couple of cable guides brazed onto my Pompino, and possibly the chainstay bridge cut out.

Who will do this for less than the frame cost me (not including paint)? Or, alternatively, do any of those integrated chain tug/hangers work with a quick release?

  • The OG Cotic Roadrat used a QR chaintug/hanger as you described. Might even have my old one kicking about

  • Yeah I've seen chain tugs online that have a hanger attached to them. Might be a beter bet than weldi g into your frame.

  • Also please remember the Pompinos 120mm spacing.
    Modern casettes won't fit.

  • A plank of wood and a bit of leverage sorted that out six months ago. Been running a 130mm hub singlespeed with no issues. Much preferred to screw on freewheels.

  • What are the reasons against using a kaffenback for 'cross ?

  • Braze-ons under the top tube and the fact it's as heavy as an elephant I imagine are the main drawbacks, but if you want to enjoy 'cross rather than race 'cross it's probably as good as anything else

  • Wait my bad their spaced for a 135mm hub. My CX bike has a rear disc brake.

  • Hey all,
    here is mine
