I'm reluctantly contemplating selling my Look 585.

If such a terrible eventuality occurs, what do you think would be reasonable price to ask for?

Ha! Tester, I've seen your lack of love for FSA stuff on a few other posts.. Forgive my ignorance, but is there any particular reason for this (like a mass recall of some of their products etc) or just a general feeling and acceptance amongst 'proper' roadies that FSA is a bit shit?!

The problem (which they're trying to break out of with their sponsorship of ProTour team this year) is the correct perception that every time you see FSA on an OTP bike, it's there to keep the price down. In terms of quality, as long as you apply the right corrective factor (about 0.5) to the RRP, I've never been disappointed by a product from TH Industries, whether it says TH or RPM or FSA or Vision on the label.

It's probably going to be a while before any Taiwanese brand truly breaks through to roadie snobs, the weight weenies are leading the way by cleaving to the likes of Novatec and Kalloy high end products, which are competitive with much more expensive European and American boutique producers.

Thats been listed on there for over 6 months, and the owner has just starting to list it on other sites, like Trocvelo. I've had email conversations with the guy, but he's never going to drop the selling price, and shipping isn't cheap to the UK. Recently, he's just added a line that the price is not negotiable.

@benjybars, if you're just l trying to raise some cash/make some space, part it out but hang on to the frame and rebuild when you have the resources. They aren't making 585s any more, don't go through life regretting your loss.

Heres mine.Its a 2008 586 Origin,with 2010 Super Record. F +F bought from ebay in 2013,then the rest sourced from a mixture of NOS (shifters,chainset,front mech,callipers)and eBay again(wheels,rear mech). The only properly new full price parts were handlebars(Rotundo Team Carbon)stem(DedaDuperleggero)cassette(Miche Supertype - looks good,is extremely light but is also rubbish under load-dont ever buy one)and tyres. Oh and the bartape - white DSP was an instant source of regret.Pedals and saddle I had already. It weighs 6.8kg exactly. I had to wait about 2 years for a suitable frame to come up(I wanted this particular colourway from 2008 in XL,and because of the ISP I needed it uncut to some degree).

What's the difference between the Look 585 and 555?

Was rhe 555 just the slightly cheaper less racy version?

Completely different construction method, the 585 is lugged but the 555
uses the much cheaper tube-to-tube method. The 585 is about 200g lighter, uses higher quality materials and is made in Look's own Tunisia factory, the 555 is made in Taiwan by a subcontractor, very likely one of the same ones used by other big brands.

I saw a stealth Look today, although I'm not entirely sure if it was. I could only pick out 1 logo, and it was in a low contrast grey against the black frame.
