• Dear all,

I have a 1987 Cycles Fossé geared racer going spare.

It is made from Columbus Aelle steel with Super Vitus dropouts. White with gold lug pinstriping - all other colours are stickers. It is meant to be a replica of the famous 1986-7 LOOK Bernard Hinault "La Vie Claire" (which was made in Reynolds 753) and Cycles Fossé, a local french bike shop used to produce these replicas to suit wannabe racers on a budget.

The bike is in good condition for its age, a couple of scrapes and marks on the paint but certainly no dents or dings. It would make a great daily ride. I have replaced the brake cables as they were sticky, I also changed the bar tape and both tubular tyres so it is ready to roll.

    1. Frame: 56cm square frame (centre to centre, top tube and seat tube), white columbus Aelle steel frame (Super Vitus Rear lungs) with chrome forks - all colours are decals in line with "La Vie Claire Team TdF replica"
    2. Groupset: Full Shimano 105 1050 2x6 speed groupset including bottom bracket,
chainset (170mm), front derailleur, rear derailleur, brakeset (hoods are still supple, cables are new),
      headset and brake cables.
    3. Wheels: Shimano 105 Uniglide hubs (the ones with no lockring) and Mavic "Speciale Course" Tubular rims - new Vittoria tubular tyres (glued)
    4. Cockpit: 110mm ATAX quill stem & Guidon Philippe drops with new bar tape.
    5. Asspit: Rino Leader Aero seatpost 26.2mm & Bassano saddle. Look clipless pedals (no cleats).

All in, a great bike ready to ride. Size wise, it is set up for me at 5ft10.5 (179cm) and would suit a an inch either way (5ft9 - 6ft).

I've also priced it really kindly at £150 so I don't have to start at £200 and price drop for 5 weeks...

Come and take it for a spin, it is kept indoors at my office in Gresham Street EC2V 7NQ.

    Cheers

    Vince

  • What on earth made you think that bar-tape qualified as an improvement?

    Good price, though - GLWS.

  • I'd bite your hand off at the price...if only it was a bit bigger. White or black bar tape FTW

  • Just trying to keep the period correctness.
Back in the late 80's, this bar tape was all the rage...

Happy to re-tape for the new owner if that is a dealbreaker

  • I think any new owner can do the re-taping, at the price I doubt the bike will hang around for too long, great commuter/pub bike

  • Dibs and a PM

  • secondary dibs if pete doesn't take it. Steal price!

    Number is 07710394529 thanks!

  • @petefrombookham came for a spin this afternoon and found the riding position too 'race-y' for his liking.

@KarlMarx - Let me know if you want to come to see it.

@LFGSS The bike is still available in the meantime!

    Cheers

  • any chance uk postage ?

  • @biggs682 I would prefer cash on collection but I am driving to Scotland next month so I could potentially drop it off.
    Where are you based?

  • Now sold!

Thanks for the interest - FYI it sold for £140

£10 discount for new bar tape ;-)
