I'm always hesitant to put racks on bikes because anything heavy duty enough to carry a great deal of weight will probably have an adverse effect on handling, and if your carrying stuff light enough to put in a flimsy basket, then you could just put in in your bag and save yourself getting shit out of a basket every time you lock up.

Also ppl will put rubbish in your basket when its locked up. Thats why platform racks and bungees are way better.

I use a basket when I just don't wanna bring a backpack out on a ride. The handling takes a bit of getting used to but it's not bad, have done 100mile rides do cannalpath and greenway with baskets before.
