I've been using the Shimano RO78 for the past 18 months. Under £50, would buy again if on budget.
Started with SPD for general use, then look keo for LVV hire bikes and now Spd-SL on my own bike on and off track.
Get some hotspots after 3-4 hours, and have to remember to back off the velcro if you start cold early morning and it gets hot, but I'm not meticulous about cleat position so probably as much user error as anything else.

I don't have the money for dedicated track shoes, and am keen to make use of a pair of (look) cleats on the road. Any recommendations for entry level/low cost options that are a good halfway house? Of course if money was no object I'd go full aero and everything, but that's not possible right now.
