I was being serious but I'm not sure why I bothered asking when I went and Googled it anyway. Prior to asking, I did realise that's probably what it meant but didn't think it would actually be that simple. Oh dear, dear

I might buy one of Merlin's gear packs so I can choose my own chainset and get something better looking than Ultegra. Maybe even DA 9000.
anyone got any experience of Rotor NoQ rings on Di2? Thinking this might be my setup for racing bike...
-
• #4129
Yes, I've got a Rotor 3D+ with NoQ rings on my S2 with Di2. Works fine.

jesus, if cav is pissed at sram brakes!
as someone on here said recently 'it must be a real kick in the balls to be a pro and train all the time, then have to ride fsa kit'
-
• #4131
Luckily for Cav, his contract is up at the end of the year.
-
• #4132
He can join the rest of the washed-up sprinters at MTN -Quebeka :)

• #4133
Ooooh Steve! Bitch!
-
• #4134
I've got this setup. Front shifting is perfect..
-
• #4135
SRAM bringing a single ring road set up for triantelopes and anti-porn of the very highest qualite
-
• #4136
Still 2 bar end shifters?
-
• #4137
I've see lots of people on time trial bikes in aero helmets using their 34 to get up Sawyer's Hill. That'll be wasted on your average sleeveless. And then they'll crash anyway.

Will this cassette:
http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CASHHG81/shimano-slx-hg81-10-speed-cassetteWork fine with:
http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CSSHOEMCX50/shimano-fc-cx50-10-speed-chainset?
-
• #4139
Yes but will your rear derailleur?
-
• #4140
It's for a new build, so the derailleur can be chosen to work with whatever I choose. It's for a tourer so I'm looking at probably going for the slx for that 34 tooth, but it costs double what a Tiagra costs

If you're planning on using a Shimano MTB rear mech with 10 speed road shifters, you'll need to use a 9 speed rear mech. It'll work fine if you do.
-
• #4142
This.
Or even Microshift derailleur.

So I'm slowly gathering bits for my Ultimate AL. Have a pair of old Force shifters and a compact Rotor 3D crankset. Which front dérailleur will give me the best performance? Or the best value for money?
-
• #4144
I ended up using a 105 mech with Force shifters after issues but I gather SRAM have improved their game now.
Front mechs are cheap enough that you can change if you struggle to set it up anyway. I'd go with SRAM.
-
• #4145
Ok. I think I've got a couple of 6600 front dérailleurs lying around I could try out
-
• #4146
6600 ones work well, that or get a sram yaw one, non yaw sram ones are pretty poor

Just had one of the best rides of my life today on a sora/claris/OEM equipped bike which put the whole 'buyer' thing in perspective .. who wants to buy my di2? ;)

I have a supersix 2012 with external routing, I use an ultegra chainset with the wheels MFG adapters and SRAM Red BB bearings. It's serving me well with no creaks so far. I also used the heavier, older FSA EE085 adapters and they were fine too.
Other crank options if you want to go BB30:
-Rotor
-Cannondale SiSL of the bay or SiSL2...will need to use spider-ring as apparently the previous gen is not 11 speed compatible, don't quote me on it
-FSA
-Specialized
-Clavicula
I only went ultegra because it came with the groupset, the stiffness to weight ratio is still one of the highest out there, weight is reasonable and shifting (according to multiple reviews I've read) is the best out of the chainrings supplied with aftermarket cranks.
Although on a cannondale, if I were to upgrade, I'd go SiSL2 with spider-ring, because bling and weight weenie.
Edit: also re: the di2 thing, if you are externally routed you will need to externally route di2 and have an external battery, unless you drill some holes in the frame to get the wires up into the seattube for a seatpost battery.
