  • Dropped everything thing off to xxxxx in xxxxxx this morning. Much excite! Hopefully a fully built bike ce soir.

  • Dude!!
    I wanna see!!

  • The shop were busy and weren't able to finish it off yesterday. Mechanic reckons the Ergostem is well anti. Most of it's done though.
He's going to send some pics through later so we can agree on stem angles /length etc.
Picking it up today after work all going well.
Here's a pic with tyres on before taking it to the shop.

  • Still need to level the saddle, set fire to the stem and take some half decent pictures but you get the drift.

  • That looks so nice.
For the final photos pls get the flats of the drops parallel to the floor.

  • Bit awkward, but I'm just going to come out with it: "oh".

A quality build (obvs), but somehow it just doesn't come together for me and I'm underwhelmed. :(

Can't put my finger on it: too much black, rim depth? Dunno.

In fairness, your AL264 is my favourite, geared forum beik (it's been my wallpaper since, like forever), so this had a lot to live up to...

PS Was there a thread for the AL264? Can't find it.

  • Great frame. Saddle looks brutal!

  • I do know what you mean. It does look better in real life.

  • Perfect example of why Ergonova's aren't made to have a level bar-hood. Have the ends of the bars level with the floor or very slightly pointing down then move the hoods to be level which will bring them just above the curve.

  • No doubt.

I think it's the wheels: I know they're a bit "on trend", but perhaps gumwalls would give it the "lift" I think it needs...

  • I agree with Scilly, but oddly I still kind of like it. A more elegant stem would go a long way towards resolving things.

  • I don't dislike it, but the AL264 set the bar high.

  • Level bars and saddle will make a world of difference

  • I'll get onto that. Also need a better stem. I was warned many many times earlier in the thread.

  • I know what you mean didn't want to say anything when you got it, you seemed really into the idea of a ergostem, but I do think the look ergostem only really goes well with risers.

  • I came across a Look stem on a local Belgian site, I can get you in touch if interested.

Nothing but love for this build btw, tires look great, needs descent pictures tho.
And the bars do need some leveling...

  • Thanks. Would be great if you could.
Looking for all opinions on what people think would look good as a stem. Hell, may even consider getting a 3T stem like I have on my AL264.

  • I have a Deda Superleggero (the black one)on my Look 586 - its nice and discreet, and quite light. No loud logos, but a nice little three bar decal on it,a bit like the 3 bar decal on your Look.It wouldn't overpower your bike which,by the way I am liking more and more, despite the stem.

  • I like it but agree about the stem. Where's the chain catcher?

  • That could work.

  • There wasn't any room for it according to the mechanic. I haven't verified this myself.

Does anyone have any pics of the preferred Lufguss position for Ergonovas? I'm having difficulty envisaging how they should look.
I have them on all three of my roadbikes and they're all setup differently. :)
Don't want to loose forum rad points.

  • Not a wonderful picture, but this is how I set mine up after plenty of tweaking

  • Alloy of course.

  • Thanks everyone.
Will try and get it looking better soon.

Now wise forumites, I need your advice.
Turns out I have bigger problems.
I have taken the day off to take the bike for it's first proper outing.
Rode over to Canary Wharf to put my daughter on the school bus.
Put the brakes on doing no more than 30kph and there is a bang. Looking down, I see the front right brake pad at the bottom of the caliper. It's gouged the tyre, ruined the pad and left a mark on my rim which I'm not sure will come off. Mechanic hasn't done the caliper up properly!
Now I'm a fairly reasonable bloke.
Take it back to the shop and the mechanic is really apologetic and in a very English way, we some how end up apologising to each other. Boss is away. Will need to talk to him when he's back etc.

Where does the fault lie? Bike had done no more than 6km. Bit fucked off really that it's ruined a fairly expensive tyre and pads. Hopefully the bike shop will do the right thing.
