In theory it's not too tricky, there are guides out there with step-by-step instructions. In practice it can be fine or you can reach a point where whatever is meant to happen on that step doesn't happen and you're stuck.
For instance I often find it an arse to get the drivers to install properly which means that your computer doesn't recognise the phone and can't connect, etc.
Also, I seem to remember there was an issue with rooting Z3 where some of the camera function became a bit limited as some of the post-processing was due to custom Sony software. Can't remember how serious an issue it was.

Does it just simplify up the phone interface/ make it more user friendly?
