Ok - So having looked into it, I'm not going for the Macbook.
So base model 13 inch MBP with Retina display and mid-level processor upgrade
or top spec 13 inch Macbook Air with upgrade to i7 and 8gb of ram
For general browsing/work - using in coffee shops etc
