I might finally change the tyres and not do it again on Marathon Pluses..
-
• #4
sounds great, do you have a route yet?
-
• #5
Sure do, this is the third episode.
-
• #6
Hopefully I'll finally make it to this ride with something practical.

I fancy this.
Single speed moutain bike sound like a good move? Never ridden far on it though... Hmm...
Would need to up the ratio as it is super spinny at the moment.

I certainly hope so.

Maybe, have the perfect bike, actually bikes that would be brilliant for this, just need the fitness.

• #12
Chips on the sea front?
-
• #13
Would the ride be completely undoable on 25c gatorskins?
-
• #14
Perfect for my Crosscheck!
-
• #15
Doable, might not be too much fun though.
-
• #16
27 signed-up, that would be the biggest turnout for this so far.
This is a wicked-fun ride to the coast, with nearly zero hassle..
Come on summer..

• #17
This sounds great - do you have a route file for it?
-
• #18
Nope.
If you want to do this ride earlier:
Follow Thames to the Wey Navigation
Follow that to Clay Lane A3100
After Guildford center pick up Wey again
After Broadford Road take next trail on left
Complete journey via Shoreham or South Downs -
• #19
Are you going to do a Brighton suitable for my skinny wheels?
-
• #20
Will do some when the weather's a bit nicer.
-
• #21
Is this Brighton and back, or there on the bike and train back?
-
• #22
Nope, but someone always does.
-
• #23
See?
-
• #24
The later.
-
• #25
You will not want to ride back.
Hammersmith Bridge at 08:30 - Leaving sharp - Be ready to ride
Check your bike, body and brain before coming on this ride - Will be a long day and we can't hang around
Sweet, scenic, no-hills cruise to Brighton
Some bumps along the South Downs, but you'll be pushing your bike by then..
An unusual way to the coast, great day out
Using:
River paths
Old railway tracks
130KMs
Mostly impacted rock pavement, it can be bumpy and dusty in places
You'll need:
28c tyres or greater
Good gloves
Might be a long day in the saddle - Quick but social pace - No crybabies - No crap equipment
